Book Review Martin Luther King Jr. by Mary Nhin

Books: My thoughts about Martin Luther King Jr. by Mary Nhin

I had planned on posting this on Martin Luther King day (20th January) but, alas, I was struggling with my health and didn't manage to. As the book covers an important topic and highlights key information about Martin Luther King and what he did I figure anytime is a good time to share this review though.

If you're looking to introduce children's historical biographies to your children, your class/library or just like the idea then this one is a great place to start.

Discussing Martin Luther King Jr. by Mary Nhin

My Review Summary:

Key Takeaways from the video:

I picked up Martin Luther King Jr. from the Movers and Shakers series after spotting it on Amazon, as January is when we celebrate Martin Luther King Day.
The series introduces young children to key historical figures and important topics, and this book focuses on Martin Luther King’s life and impact.
It covers his childhood, the segregation he experienced, and the early injustices he faced growing up.
The book then moves through Rosa Parks’ defiance, the bus boycotts, and King’s involvement in the Civil Rights Movement.
It includes the “I Have a Dream” speech, presented with simple, child-friendly illustrations that support the text nicely.
I thought it presented all the essential information clearly and appropriately for younger readers, keeping things light enough to hold their attention.
There’s also a helpful timeline at the end, highlighting key dates and events all the way up to 2012.
I gave it four stars and feel it’s a great introductory book for children learning about Martin Luther King for the first time.
