This morning I got to hang out with fellow author Louise Kennedy. I love chatting with other authors about their publishing experiences. She told me all about how she got a book deal after being contacted by her (now) publisher when they came across her blog. Louise's story is when of those things a lot of authors dream of.

With author Louise Kennedy
Louise's book "Bailey Boat Cat" has just been released and I was happy to get the chance to check it out. My two year old loved it!

Twitter is one of my favourite social media sites. It's also the one where I get the most engagement on the content I post and the easiest to use to send content viral. The site has been going through some major changes recently and undergone several design updates. The most recent, which I got today, is very visual. It has a more Facebook like feel to it and gives a lot more emphasis on images and video's than it has in the past (something nearly all the top social media sites are doing).

Here's a screenshot of my new look profile:

As you can see, the header banner has been super-sized.

One thing I like about the new design is that you can now pin a tweet to the top of your profile. In the screenshot above you can see I've pinned one about the upcoming Promo Day event I organise (you can find more tweets about the event using the hashtag #PD14).

Whilst I do like the new design it's going to take a while to get used to. Have you got the new design yet? What do you think of it?
This is the slideshow trailer for my webinar at this years Promo Day event (please share it to help spread the word about the event)

The event takes place on Saturday 31st May at www.PromoDay.info. My presentation will be "How to be Twittertastic". There will also be many other free presentations during the event by industry experts offering strategies and tips on a variety of topics.

Here's some of the presenters that will be taking part:

#PD14 is now trending on Twitter thanks to this tweet:

A Readers Favorite 5 Star Review from Mamta Madhavan, “A story with an interactive theme and educational concept, from Wiggle Worm's Shape Adventure will worm its way into the hearts of readers. The authors have written a beautiful story that will teach children not only about shapes but also about animals and counting. It is a book I would recommend for school libraries and personal collections as it can be used for reading sessions in classrooms and libraries. It also makes a good bedtime story book.” http://readersfavorite.com/book-review/29598

Author Bio:
Karen and Kathy are twins that have a passion for writing and cooking. They started writing in high school, and had a few things published in the school paper. When they got out of college and got a job in childcare they started writing again. They say that working with children keeps their minds full of ideas.

Keeping two careers afloat, however, does not mean that they do not take their writing seriously. Karen and Kathy says writing for children is full of fun, and keeps their imagination on go. When they are not writing they can be found in the kitchen testing out one of their recipes.

Karen and Kathy writes children's books, dabble in poetry, and writes cookbooks. They would love to write a novel one day. Our minds are always in overdrive, they have several projects going at one time.
Writing has its challenges, but Karen and Kathy take each challenge and work hard to make their dreams come true. They just set their minds to the task at hand and move forward.

Mini Interview

Why did you write this book?
Because it was fun and we knew that children would love the animals and how they worked together.

Anything in particular you'd like to share about this book or its creation?
This book is great to teach children how friends help one another. It also teaches math and basic shapes.

What can we expect to see from you in the future?
Maybe a novel or two, a poetry book, and plenty more children's books.
Get ready to join me in a happy dance... The Box hit the best seller lists this week when it reached a ranking of #55 in large print children's books on Amazon.com and all reviews so far have 5 star ratings.
