Mini Interview

Please tell me how long you have been writing, and why you decided to become a writer.
I have been writing for about a decade now, but have come a long way with my writing since then (wiser!). My mamma and papa` have always told me that I have a wild imagination. So this is why I became a writer. Writing completes me!

Are you a fulltime or part-time writer? I suppose I would be considered a part-time writer, who carries a notebook and a pen and sneaks in writing at anytime! I work full time as a special needs classroom assistant for the School District Of Philadelphia.

Where do you draw your inspirations from? I love photography.  A lot of my inspiration comes from reference photos, and surfing the internet. Most of the time I’ll compare reference photos along with my child model (my daughter! lol) and then change it up according to my style. Sometimes, my child model wants payment for her services!

Is this your first published work?  What other types of writing are you interested in?
Yes, this is my first published children’s book.  I also have an interest in writing MG and YA. Actually, I have already begun writing my rough draft for a YA.

Why did you decide to self-publish your work instead of pursuing traditional publishing?

I decided to self-publish Alphabet Wildlife A to Z, instead of traditional publishing because I felt strongly about promoting it myself. There is a long list of Alphabet books already out in the market, but I feel that my book is unique and represents me as an artist. The beauty of self-publishing with CreateSpace is that you can easily edit your book. Basically, I wanted the freedom to make all the decisions.
