THE BOOK SYNOPSIS FOR What Remains of Me by A L Gaylin

Book Review: What Remains of Me by A L Gaylin
People don't need to know you're a murderer. They just have to think you could be... June 1980: 17-year-old Kelly Lund is jailed for killing Hollywood film director, John McFadden Thirty years later, Kelly is a free woman. Yet speculation still swirls over what really happened that night. And when her father-in law, and close friend of McFadden is found dead - shot through the head at point-blank range - there can only be one suspect. But this time Kelly has some high-profile friends who believe she's innocent of both crimes. But is she?

Book Review: Malice in Wonderland by Nicholas Blake

Book Review: Malice in Wonderland by Nicholas Blake
Tampered pianos, tennis balls dipped in treacle, and mysterious forces pulling idle swimmers underwater: the ‘Mad Hatter’ is wreaking havoc at Wonderland summer camp and his pranks are getting dangerous.

Private detective Nigel Strangeways receives a call for help from Wonderland, a new holiday camp that has recently opened only to be plagued by a series of cruel practical jokes conducted by the self-proclaimed ‘Mad Hatter’.
The camp’s owners are convinced a rival firm, desperate to put them out of business, is behind the events. But with four hundred guests, an angry hermit, and plenty of disgruntled employees, who is the ‘Mad Hatter’?

Authortube: What Do I Post?

I'm in full swing with my end of year audit, and plans for 2018. One thing I want to be more organised about, and do more of is Authortube. I'm getting organised for Booktube in general, but for today's post I want to concentrate on the author community.

Booktube in a small community on Youtube. Authortube in an even smaller segment of that. My goal is to post one Authortube video, and one Booktube video a week (minimum) in 2018.

Ideas for Booktube videos are easy. Book reviews, unboxings, book hauls, book tags, readathons, etc... There's plenty of content options.

Authortube is a smaller community and so doesn't have many tags. I'm trying to come up with a few originals to post in the new year, so that's a starting point I guess. The problem is, what else should I post?

What to post?

I've done some readings from some of my books in the past and will be adding more of those.

Then I thought about reviews. I do a lot of book reviews for Booktube, so why not do some reviews of gadgets, and tools I use for my writing too, right?

I've also been thinking about writer problems and how to overcome them. If I struggle, maybe others out there are having the same problems. Stuff like time management, and finding inspiration would fall into this category too.

Work in progress vlogs work well during events like NaNoWriMo. Would these still appeal to viewers throughout the rest of the year?

I took part in an Authortube Collaboration earlier this year which was a lot of fun. I'd love to do more of these in the new year. Anyone interested in doing something? Ideas for what that something could be?

Come check out my Youtube channel.

Are you part of Authortube? Do you struggle to come up with ideas for video content?

Got a suggestion for a video that you'd like to see me do that's not on the list above?

A Bookish Christmas: A book cover that has a wonderfully Christmas feel to it #BlogHop

Welcome to my stop on the A Bookish Christmas Blog Hop. Today's question is  A book cover that has a wonderfully Christmas feel to it.

A Bookish Christmas: A book cover that has a wonderfully Christmas feel to it.
When I think of Christmas books the first one that springs to mind is The Night Before Christmas by Clemente C. Moore. My family would read it together every Christmas Eve when I was growing up and it's a tradition I do with my own kids too. There are so many different versions of this book, some being text only, others being elaborately illustrated. I personally prefer the illustrated versions.

Here's what the rest of the blog hop team had to say:

Bookishly has released a wonderful exclusive cover for A Christmas Carol that I’m crushing on. I might indulge once I’ve finished the Christmas shopping.

A Match of Sorts by Lucette Nel just released on December 1st and I love the cover! The ornaments, bow, and snow-covered chapel give it the perfect Christmas feel.

Dinosaurs have always been a big hit with my family. Check out the new Jurassic World movie, eh? So, last year, we discovered The Dinosaurs’ Night Before Christmas by Anne Muecke. It was a cute children’s book combining the classic tale with a new dino twist, and it was awesome. Definitely one I’d like to get and read again.

Since the first few books that struck me as having the “elegant, holiday, wintery” kind of aesthetic were ones that had nothing to do with Christmas, I’m going to have to go with Hercule Poirot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie. I absolutely love the Belgian detective, and the story has all of the characteristic scandals and murder and ulterior motives that can only happen in a holiday spectacular brought to you from the Queen of Mystery herself!

#FreeRead: Grab Your Copy of The Box! 7th & 8th Dec 2017 #Kidlit

My children's picture book The Box is available for free kindle download from all Amazon sites on 7th and 8th December. I hope you'll take advantage of this special offer to grab a copy, and encourage you to add it to your Goodreads shelves. I also love to hear your feedback so please post a quick review to Amazon and/or Goodreads once you've read it.

"Because a box is just a box, except when it's not."
Join in the creative fun as a little boy explains why his box is his favourite toy.

The Box took me right back to my childhood and my children's childhood. Now, I can read it to my grandchildren and tell them how I played with a box and how their Mom or Dad did. Jo Linsdell has written a fun book with illustrations that will touch your heart and take you back in time. It has just the right number of words and sentences to connect to your toddler's imagination and stay within their attentive span. When I get a new book for the grandchildren I often bring something to go with it like seeds and a shovel for a book about a garden. How neat is this. I will only need to find a discarded box! Imagination is a wonderful thing to promote. This really does deserve 5 stars. Fran Touchette

I loved this book! The Box by Jo Linsdell has all the makings of a favorite children's book: simple, imaginative and fun. I wish I had this book when my boy was a toddler, but there are others in my life who are going to enjoy seeing all the creative things they can do with a box. And then, I'm sure, they will want to immediately read the book again! Congratulations to Jo Linsdell on a very lovely book. JDB

What an adorable book! A great way to inspire kids to be creative with something basic. Whimsical font choice and fun illustrations make this a treat for the parent as well. Sarah Wright

Jo Linsdell is a genius. The Box, is a delightful little book and fun to read to little ones. The story is simply done, with just the right amount of text and the illustrations add to it perfectly. My youngest child clients absolutely love it. It's so much fun to read about all the imaginative activities a child could do with a box. (And to think an adult wrote this!) After the story ends I encourage kids to think up more ways to use a box...."Because a box is just a box, except when it's not." This is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it. Susie Caron

The most expensive toy will never match up with a simple large box. Ms. Linsdell does an awesome job with this fun and simple children's picture book that brought back nostalgic memories for me. A box holds so many possibilities and the imagination is endless! :)
The artwork is beautiful, clear and engaging for both a child and the adult reading the story. I really enjoy the clean simplicity. A great book for that special boy who will always remember the fun he had with a simple box! This is a great indoor/rainy day or outdoor fun story!
Works all around! :) Denise Bolds

What I’ve always loved about Linsdell’s children’s books is their simplicity and creativity. As a mom, she knows what young readers are looking for. She proves this once again with The Box. How often do parents joke that we buy our kids a bunch of toys for their birthday and they end up playing with the boxes? Linsdell truly gets into the heart of a child with this one. The adorable illustrations keep the reader focused on the boy and his magic box that he can transform into anything. cheryl c malandrinos

The text, illustrations, and the theme of the book is simplicity at its best. It is not complicated, fancy, or hard to understand. The book shares the creative possibilities of taking a simple cardboard box and using imagination to let it become an endless array of possibilities to entertain and amuse young children. The thought struck me as I read it how things in life need to be simplified to the basics. A great book for adults to share with young children Azur

2018 A to Z Reading Challenge #2018AtoZChallenge

I discovered the Ginger Mom Reads blog recently and I'm already hooked! I highly recommend following this blog is you don't already.

Anyway, while I was there browsing the site I found out about the A to Z Reading Challenge and I'm super excited. The thing I really love about this challenge is that there is a kidlit version too. So I'll be reading my way through the alphabet in 2018, and taking part in all the fun activities that go with the challenge; readathons, Twitter parties, Instagram challenges, giveaways, and more. I plan to do both the adult version and the kidlit version of the challenge.

I'm also going to participate as an author, so if you'd like host me for an author interview, or would like a kindle review copy of one of my books to read for the challenge (Fairy May, Out and About at the Zoo, The Box, or any of the episodes from the KOSMOS series) drop me an email.

Ginger Mom and the Kindle Quest

Now I just need to work out which books I'll be reading for each letter...

Are you taking part in the challenge too? Got some suggestions for books?
