Today is #PromoDay2016!
A special online event dedicated to promoting, networking and learning.
The big day is finally here and I'm buzzing with excitement! I'll be at Promo Day all day long (yes I am crazy enough to pull a 24 hour ;)).
Things are already underway but registration will remain open all day so those of you that only just found out about the event can still join in the fun. Everyone is welcome!
Once you've registered you'll have access to all the webinars, including my own "Blogging for Authors", and access to the pitch sessions with publishers, and much more...
I'm really looking forward to the live panel discussions later on today too. So much happening!
Preparations for this years Promo Day event are now in full flow, which means I'm busy, busy, BUSY! Feeling super excited and can't wait for Saturday 30th May!
Firstly, I have to give a virtual high five to my amazing sponsors. These people are what allow me to keep this a free event and so deserve a special shout out:
I love how the Promo Day event brings together people from the publishing industry from all over the globe. It's always so much fun connecting with attendees. There'll be loads of networking and promotional opportunities during the event. Can't wait!
The following Publishers have confirmed that they will be taking pitches during the event:
I've also got a great line up of presenters for this years event.
All sounds pretty awesome right?
Every May I organise an online event called Promo Day. It's a whole day dedicated to promoting, networking, and learning.
As May is fast approaching, I've been rolling up my sleeves and getting everything ready for the big day. A lot of work goes into setting up an event like this but it's totally worth it! Every event brings me (and others) new clients, assignments, and opportunities. It's also great for re-enforcing my author brand and increasing name recognition.
I'm doing the website myself this year and it's starting to come together. Drop by http://promoday.blogspot.com and check it out. I love playing around with html code (one of my hobbies) but I'm by no means an expert at it yet so it's been challenging, frustrating at times, and rewarding to be able to put it all together.
I still have a lot of work to do though. One of the things on my to do list is to finish putting together the press page. On this page you'll be able to find audio ads, video's, banners, tweetables, and pretty much anything you might need or want to help promote the event.
This year I have a great line up of presenters. Big names like Carolyn Howard Johnson, Penny Sansevieri, and Rivka Kawano (to name just a few) will be sharing valuable tips and advice during the event. I'm still on the look out for more presenters to add to the line up and I also have to coordinate all the material for each one. I will be presenting "How to be Twittertastic".
Day two of Write On Con 2013 was packed full of great advice and information. Here's my top picks from day 2:
Deborah Diesen did an awesome video presentation about rhythm and rhyme where she spoke about beats and meter, staying true to the rhythm and the importance of rhyming rhythmically.
In "Making Picture books: A list of the top 5 things I wish someone would have told me..." Lindsay Ward included; "you're the talent", "be your books biggest advocate", "trust your instincts", "let the story guide you" and "be patient".
Author C. Desir gave some good editing tips in her article and listening to the literary agents feedback during the LIVE twitter pitches gave me lots of points to think about.
I'll definitely be taking part in next years event.
The big day has finally arrived and the action is in full swing. Have you visited the website www.PromoDay.info yet? The presentations have all been amazing and packed full of useful tips and advice.
A lot action has been taking place on Twitter (the tweetchat widget on site makes it super easy to share tweets about the event).
Here's just a few tweets that people have been sharing:
and a few from Promo Day commenting on the presentations:
You can still join in. Go to www.PromoDay.info now and register. It's completely free and open to all. Make sure you check the opportunities thread in the forums for info about opportunities to be interviewed or join in book pimping sessions.
Don't forget to tweet about the event using the hashtag #PD13 :)
This years Promo Day event is just days way and is set to be the most awesome edition yet! Not only do I have a fantastic line up of presenters who will be sharing some great information, tips and strategies during the event but there's also going to be extra opportunities for promoting and networking with all the social media integration too.
I'm buzzing with excitement and can't wait to jump into all the Google+ hangouts, Twitter chats and Facebook wall chats. Not to mention all the action that will be happening in the forums. It's going to be so much fun mingling with all the writers, publishers, editors, illustrators, tour companies, virtual assistants etc...
I'll be doing a video webinar during the event about how writers can use Google+ hangouts.
I LOVE the new website and think you'll all agree that +marzia fabretti (official Promo Day webmaster) has done an amazing job. I'm also super happy that she'll be joining me on Saturday as we share sneak peeks behind the scenes as Promo Day unfolds.
As always, Promo Day is a completely free event and it's open to everyone. To take part all you need to do is register at www.PromoDay.info
Hope to see you there and please feel free to share the invite to any one you think might be interested in taking part. The more, the merrier!
Promo Day will take place on Saturday 25th May this year and I'm busy organising the event and setting everything up for the big day.
As you can imagine putting together an international event like this takes a lot of time and effort but it's definitely all worth it. Every year I come away with new connections, job offers and opportunities. I also get a lot of emails and messages from other attendees saying how much they enjoyed it and sharing about the new opportunities that opened up for them as a result of taking part.
As it's free, international and open to everyone we usually get a wonderful mix of people from all around the world taking part. Writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, virtual assistants, virtual book tour companies, bloggers, radio hosts, journalists.... the list goes on.
During the event there are plenty of opportunities to promote, network and learn.
The line up of presenters for this years event is fantastic. These people have huge amounts of information, tips and advice to share and each one really knows their stuff. It's not everyday that you get to pick the brains of industry experts from the comfort of your own home AND completely free of charge!
