#RhyPiBoMo: The Challenge So Far

As I mentioned in a previous post, I'm taking part in the RhyPiBoMo challenge this month.

As the second week comes to an end I thought I'd give you an update on how it's been so far.

Firstly, I just have to mention the awesome blog posts over at https://angiekarcher.wordpress.com/ (the home of RhyPiBoMo). Each day a guest shares tips, tricks, and advice about writing rhyme. My favourite posts include:

  • Tim McCanna (Day 1) who did a great job of kicking off the event.
  • Marilyn Singer (Day 4) with her myths about rhyme.
  • Julie Hedlund (Day 6) who shared some good tips.

As part of the challenge is to read children's poems, I did a search and found this site http://www.kidsgen.com/rhymes_and_poems/ with a good selection. The winning website so far though has to be http://www.poetry4kids.com/. One of my favourites is "I Tried to Take a Selfie".

Julia Donaldson is winning in the best rhyming reads so far. The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child are both awesome books.

If you're doing the challenge I hope you'll consider reading my rhyming children's picture story books; Out and About at the Zoo, and Fairy May.
