Apologies for not posting very often this month but I've been away on holiday exploring the South of Italy. I had an amazing time and we're already planning our next trip. I highly recommend visiting Calabria. The beaches are breathtakingly beautiful with crystal clear waters. A true paradise.

It's not easy getting back into work mode after such a lovely time off, but alas, I can't afford to have a 365 days a year holiday. So, back to work I go...

Yesterday I had the pleasure of being interviewed by K.G. Finfrock for her blog The Attic Ghost. You can find the interview here: http://www.theatticghost.com/2017/08/interview-with-author-jo-lindsell.html.

I hope you'll drop by and say hello.

Book Lovers Blog Hop: How often do you go to the library?

I'm back hosting for the Book Lovers Blog Hop again today. I'm seriously loving all the posts so far this month. So many great reading suggestions. Plus it's fun learning more about everyone's reading habits and getting to know other book lovers. You can find the full schedule at the bottom of this post in case you missed some ;). Today's question is How often do you go to the library?

I try to go once a week with my kids. We have a special children’s library near our house, and they always have events and activities going on. I love that my kids get as excited about going to the library as I do. I’ve done some activities there in the past and will be doing some more readings there in September for my own children’s books (super excited about that! :)).

Reasons I love libraries:
1. Books. Who doesn't love a building full of books?!
2. It's free (or with a very small annual fee). A major plus point for those of us with limited budgets.
3. Librarian's are like BFF's for book lovers. Can't remember the name of the book? The librarian will know. Need a reading suggestion? Ask the librarian. Want someone to talk to about the books you read? The Librarian has either read it, is interested to know what you thought of it so they can make suggestions for others, or will have suggestions for other books you might enjoy... or all of the above.
4. Libraries often put on events and activities which can be lots of fun. Ours does everything from baby dance, to readings, to craft projects. We also have a summer party with face painting, music, and games. My kids love it.
5. It's not just books. I've seen a lot of films thanks to my library. They have a great DVD section and are always adding new discs to the collection. They have a music collection too where you can borrow music CDs too (although I've yet to make use of that).

Now let's take a look at what the team had to say:

Now that my daughters are back in school we probably won’t get to go as often, but over the summer we were making weekly trips to the library. My kiddos still do weekly visits at school but I end up doing more writing than reading while they are out of the house.

Leslie Conzatti www.upstreamwriter.blogspot.com

There was a time when I would be making trips to the library every single week because that was how fast I was blazing through checkouts. Once I started working full-time, it slacked off to about once or twice a month—lately I have been focused on whittling down the pile of indie-published books I’ve bought/been given/won in a giveaway because they’ve been sitting in my Kindle Library for a couple years now. I finally went back to the library the other day, after several months of hiatus, and boy did it feel good! I always feel like I can find something to read every time I go to the library.

I’m only at the library every couple of months. But my sister volunteers at one and is constantly checking out stacks of books. If she finds something she thinks I’ll like, she brings it over for me to read before it's due. :)

My daughter and I try to go once a fortnight but it works out to more like once a month. Our local library is a great place for children with the amount of toys and games they have, so it’s never a problem getting my daughter there.

Skye Hegyes www.skyehegyes.com

When my oldest was in school, we tried going to the library once every one or two weeks. Since the kids have been out of school? Well… We haven’t gone at all. We’ve been re-reading favorites, but we’ve also been doing a lot more outside activities.

Jebraun Clifford www.jebraunclifford.com

I try to go at least every four to six weeks. Unfortunately, I’m not as consistent with returning my library books, so I’ve racked up a few fines. But we’ve got a great selection at our local library, and I love reading old favourites and discovering new finds.

I don't know about you but I feel a trip to the library coming on after reading this :)

Do you go to the library? How often? What do you like most about libraries? Let us know in the comments below.

#Net Galley #Readathon 7th-14th August 2017 #NGReadathon

This year I don't have that many ARCs for doing ARCAugust and so I decided to create my own readathon instead. From 7th -14th August I'll be doing the Net Galley Readathon (#NGReadathon), where the goal is to read as many books from my Net Galley TBR list as possible in a week.

This readathon isn't sponsored by Net Galley or, in fact, connected to them in any way. I just need to get through my ever growing TBR list and some of my fellow book buddies on Twitter felt the same and so I came up with the idea of doing a readathon exclusively for Net Galley books.

Anyway, this is what I hope to read during the readathon:

#Net Galley #Readathon 7th-14th August 2017 #NGReadathon
The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher http://amzn.to/2f4OJ2I

(I've actually already started this one as part of BookTubeAThon but didn't get round to finishing it).

The Princess Diarist is Carrie Fisher’s intimate, hilarious and revealing recollection of what happened behind the scenes on one of the most famous film sets of all time, the first Star Wars movie.  Named a PEOPLE Magazine Best Book of Fall 2016.

When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved—plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naivetĂ©, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a (sort-of) regular teenager.

With these excerpts from her handwritten notebooks, The Princess Diarist is Fisher’s intimate and revealing recollection of what happened on one of the most famous film sets of all time—and what developed behind the scenes. And today, as she reprises her most iconic role for the latest Star Wars trilogy, Fisher also ponders the joys and insanity of celebrity, and the absurdity of a life spawned by Hollywood royalty, only to be surpassed by her own outer-space royalty. Laugh-out-loud hilarious and endlessly quotable, The Princess Diarist brims with the candor and introspection of a diary while offering shrewd insight into the type of stardom that few will ever experience.

What Remains of Me by AL Gaylin http://amzn.to/2uVrgVw

People don't need to know you're a murderer.
They just have to think you could be...

June 1980: 17-year-old Kelly Lund is jailed for killing Hollywood film director, John McFadden
Thirty years later, Kelly is a free woman. Yet speculation still swirls over what really happened that night.
And when her father-in law, and close friend of McFadden is found dead - shot through the head at point-blank range - there can only be one suspect.
But this time Kelly has some high-profile friends who believe she's innocent of both crimes.
But is she?

Mayan Mendacity by LJM Owens http://amzn.to/2vfs4at

Dr Elizabeth Pimms has a new puzzle.
What is the story behind the tiny skeletons discovered on a Guatemalan island? And how do they relate to an ancient Mayan queen?
The bones, along with other remains, are a gift for Elizabeth. But soon the giver reveals his true nature. An enraged colleague then questions Elizabeth’s family history. Elizabeth seeks DNA evidence to put all skeletons to rest.
A pregnant enemy, a crystal skull, a New York foodie, and an intruder in Elizabeth’s phrenic library variously aid or interrupt Elizabeth’s attempts to solve mysteries both ancient and personal.
With archaeological intrigue, forensic insight and cosy comfort, Mayan Mendacity takes readers back into the world of Dr Pimms, Intermillennial Sleuth. Really cold cases.

#Net Galley #Readathon 7th-14th August 2017 #NGReadathon
One Of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus http://amzn.to/2vf8MC9

Five students go to detention. Only four leave alive.
On Thursday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention. Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule. Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess. Nate, the bad boy, is already on probation for dealing. Cooper, the jock, is the all-star baseball pitcher. And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High's notorious gossip app. Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention, Simon's dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn't an accident.
On Thursday, he died. But on Friday, he'd planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they just the perfect patsies for a killer who's still on the loose? Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them.

A Crazy Little Things Called Love by Charlotte Butterfield http://amzn.to/2uRAIKZ

A wonderfully warm-hearted and laugh-out-loud funny romantic comedy for fans of Just Haven’t Met You Yet and Mhairi McFarlane.
When Leila finds herself on the painful end of yet another disastrous break-up, no amount of Ben & Jerry’s and trashy rom-coms can cheer her up. And so – to the amusement of her friends and family – Leila takes a more drastic approach to dealing with heartbreak: she swears off sex for an entire year.
Luckily, she has plenty to keep her mind off men. Between starting a business with ice queen Lucy, straightening out her sister Tasha’s tangled love life, and running a blog read by thousands of single ladies, Leila is soon snowed under. But she can’t help finding a little time for irresistible architect Nick – Lucy’s funny and infuriatingly sexy brother.
After an unplanned encounter under the mistletoe, the Man Ban looks like it might be skidding to a halt. Has Leila found love when she least expected it?

#Booktubeathon July 2017 Summary #BTAT17 #BTAT2017

Another Booktubeathon has passed... and what a fun week it was! I love Booktubeathon. The whole community is great, and I discovered so many new booktubers throughout the week.

For today's post I thought I'd share with you a summary of what happened during this years challenge.

The reading challenges:

I didn't do too badly here.

1. A book with a person on the cover. I didn't finish The Princess Diarist which was the book I selected for this challenge but I do get to tick off the challenge anyway as Second Honeymoon had people on the cover.

2. Hyped book. I choose 50 Shades of Grey for this one and although I did start reading it, I didn't finish.

3. Finish a book in a day. I picked Moranifesto for this one, but unfortunately didn't complete this challenge as the kids kept me way to busy.

4. Read about a character very different from you. I choose The Devils Prayer for this one but didn't get round to starting it. I can tick off the challenge as completed though as there were characters in the books I did finish that mean I met this task.

5. Read a book completely outdoors. I choose Second Honeymoon for this challenge and get to tick it off as completed. Between my friends garden, the beach, and the pool I finished the book reading only outdoors.

6. Read a book because of the cover. I choose Coming Home To Cuckoo Cottage for this one and can tick is off as completed.

7. Read 7 books. I added Dating the It Guy to my TBR for this one but unsurprisingly, I didn't manage it. 7 books in 7 books with the kids off school was most definitely the hardest challenge.

So I didn't complete all the reading challenges but I don't think I did too badly. I also enjoyed the books I read so I'm happy with how it went. Next readathon I'll be picking shorter books though. I might have even managed to do 7 in 7 if I had.

Then there were the daily video challenges. I love these and had planned on doing them all but just didn't have the time.

These are the ones I did manage to do.

Here's a vlog update I did during the week:
