Last weekend we went to the DreamWorks Animation Exhibition here in Rome and loved it! If you like art, animation, or just happen to be a fan of Kung Fu Panda, Trolls or one of their other many creations it's definitely worth checking out.
It was great seeing some of the original sketches done by the artists and then some of the storyboards for the movies. The talent of these artists is incredible! It's crazy to think that from a simple sketch they became the detailed characters we know and love. They really know how to bring them to life.

I discovered the event whilst scrolling online and grabbed free tickets for the whole family. I love it when I come across an event like this and whilst it was smaller than I expected it to be, we all enjoyed it.
Whilst we had already seen most of the movies there were a few we've now added to our to be watched list. We decided that we need to rewatch a few of them too. I'd forgotten how much I loved Bee Movie and The Croods.

Whilst most of the exhibition was sketches and storyboards, there were also some larger cut outs and a giant sculpture of Kung Fu Panda. Of course, we all took turns to take photo's with them...

In the past I did a Disney illustration study to take a closer look at the Disney style of drawing. As I looked at the DreamWorks artwork it made me want to do another study using their characters. The problem with that though is that, unlike Disney, DreamWorks changes their style for each project they do. Each has it's own unique feel. I might still do some sketches though, just for fun.
