What to Do When Your Blog Gets Zero Views (A Gentle Pep Talk)

You finally hit “publish”, made yourself a cuppa to celebrate, opened your analytics… and saw absolutely zero views.
Not a single one.
Not even a lost internet wanderer who clicked by mistake.

Before you start doubting everything: breathe.
Honestly, you’re not doing anything wrong — you’re just at the beginning. And beginnings are quiet.

Here’s your gentle pep talk (and a practical action plan) for those moments when your blog feels like it’s whispering into the void.

1. Remember: Everyone Starts at Zero

Even the bloggers you admire now — the ones with fancy websites, book deals, and queues of readers — began with an empty audience and a lot of hope. Zero views doesn’t mean you lack talent; it simply means you’ve only just opened the door.

Think of it like planting a seed: you don’t get a garden the moment you bury it in the soil. For guidance on building a strong foundation, check out How to Build a Strong Blog Brand.

2. Stop Refreshing the Stats (Really)

Checking your analytics every ten minutes isn’t motivational — it’s exhausting.
Close the tab. Step away.

Your energy is far better spent writing your next post, improving your craft, or taking a walk to clear your mind. Blogs grow through consistency, not through constant stat-checking. For tips on staying productive, see Time Management Tips for Busy Bloggers.

3. Share Your Posts (Even If You Feel a Bit Shy)

Readers won’t know your blog exists unless you tell them.
Share your posts:

• On your social media accounts

• In relevant groups or communities

• With friends who might genuinely enjoy the topic

• In your email newsletter, even if it only has a handful of subscribers

It’s not bragging — it’s helping someone who might benefit from what you’ve written. For more ideas, read How to Promote Your Blog Posts.

4. Give Your Blog a Fighting Chance With Basic SEO

You don’t need to become an SEO expert overnight, but a few simple tweaks go a long way:

• Use clear, descriptive titles

• Answer real questions people actually search for

• Break up posts with helpful headings

• Write in a natural, conversational style

For a practical guide, check out On-Page SEO Made Easy: A Practical Checklist for Your Site and Types of SEO: A Comprehensive Guide for Beginners.

5. Write as If People Are Reading (Because One Day They Will Be)

Even if you’ve got no audience yet, pretend you do.
Imagine someone on the other side of the screen nodding along. This will keep your tone warm, engaging, and confident — and when people do start arriving, they’ll feel right at home.

6. Look for Small Clues and Tiny Wins

After a few posts, you might start to notice patterns:

• Which topics you enjoy writing most

• Which posts get even a tiny bump in views

• What people comment on or share

These little clues help you shape your blog into something readers will genuinely love. For a checklist to track your blog’s growth, see Blog Audit Checklist 2025: SEO, UX & Monetisation.

7. Celebrate Every Small Victory

One view? Wonderful.
One comment? Pop the kettle on — that’s worth celebrating.
One share? You’re practically famous.

Small milestones matter. They’re signs of growth, even if they feel modest at first. For more encouragement, browse 30 Inspiring Quotes Every Blogger Needs to Hear.

8. Most Importantly: Keep Going

Your blog isn’t failing — it’s simply warming up.

Every post you publish is strengthening your voice, sharpening your skills, and slowly building a space people will want to visit again and again. Views often come a bit at a time… then all at once. To understand common pitfalls, see Why Blogs Fail and How To Make Sure Yours Doesn't.

Your job? Keep writing until the “all at once” arrives.

A Final Gentle Word

You’re doing something brave — putting your ideas into the world where others can read them, relate to them, and find comfort in them. That’s no small thing.

Your voice is worth hearing.
Your stories are worth sharing.
Your blog is worth building.

So chin up.
Keep writing.
And remember: every blogger with a bustling audience was once right where you are now — quietly typing away with zero views and a whole lot of hope.
