Spread the Word: Easy Blog Promotion Tips That Actually Work

You’ve crafted a great blog post, hit publish, and then… nothing. We’ve all been there. The truth is, great content doesn’t promote itself, you’ve got to give it a little push. But don’t worry, promoting your blog doesn’t have to feel awkward or salesy. Here are some easy, genuine ways to get your posts in front of the right people (without shouting into the void).

Disclosure: The FTC Disclosure Provision is a law that requires influencers to disclose when they are being paid to promote a product or service. So please know that if I'm not making money through affiliate links/sponsored content on the post you're currently reading, it's an oversight on my part and will be corrected soon. Read the full disclosure about all the legal stuff here.

So, you've just hit publish on your latest blog post. You’ve poured your heart into it, double-checked your spelling (thank you, Grammarly), and found the perfect image to go with it. Now what?

If you’re thinking, “Surely people will just find it and love it,” I hate to break it to you but sadly, it doesn’t work like that. Hitting publish is just the beginning. Now comes the fun part: promotion.

But don’t worry, you don’t need to turn into a pushy marketer. Promoting your blog can be simple, genuine, and even fun. Here's how to get your posts in front of the right people.

1. Share It on Social Media (More Than Once!)

It sounds obvious, but it works. Share your post on all your social platforms—Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram, even TikTok if you’re feeling brave.

And here’s the key: don’t just post it once and forget about it. Social media moves fast, so feel free to repost with a fresh caption, different image, or even a short quote from the blog. Tools like Buffer or Later can help you schedule your posts in advance.

Pro tip: Tailor the message for each platform. What works on LinkedIn won’t work on TikTok.

2. Repurpose It

You’ve already done the hard work of writing the post—so why not squeeze a bit more out of it?

  • Turn it into a short video or reel

  • Break it down into an email series

  • Create a carousel for Instagram

  • Pull out quotes for Pinterest

  • Record a podcast episode around it

People consume content in different ways, so meet them where they are.

3. Send It to Your Email List

If you’ve got an email list, even if it’s small, use it! I've got to be honest with you here, I'm not good at managing an email list. I set one up years ago but just don't seem to be able to keep it organised and set up regular content. That said, I do realise how good it can be as a promotional tool and hope to find a way to insert it back into my own marketing plan.

No list yet? Start building one! Add a sign-up form to your blog and offer something useful in return like a free guide or checklist.

4. Join Blogging or Niche Communities

There are loads of communities out there for bloggers, creators, and people in your niche. Places like Reddit, Facebook groups, and Medium can be great for sharing your content (as long as you’re not spammy about it).

Join the conversation, be helpful, and share your post when it’s genuinely relevant.

5. Add Internal Links to Older Posts

Already got a few blog posts under your belt? Go back and link to your new one from older, related content. It not only boosts your SEO, but also keeps your readers on your site longer.

6. Optimise for SEO (So People Can Actually Find It)

SEO might sound scary, but it’s really just making your content easy to find on Google. A few simple tips:

  • Use keywords people are searching for

  • Add clear headings and subheadings

  • Use descriptive alt text for images

  • Write a solid meta description

It’s a slow burn, but it pays off in the long run.

7. Collaborate With Others

Guest posts, interviews, shout-outs... collaborations can expand your reach and introduce your blog to new audiences. If there's someone in your space you admire, reach out! You never know what could come of it.

Final Thoughts

Promoting your blog doesn’t have to feel gross or overwhelming. Think of it as sharing something you’re proud of with people who’ll genuinely enjoy it. Be consistent, stay true to your voice, and don’t be afraid to experiment a bit.

After all, your blog deserves to be seen.
