Sorry for the delayed posting this last installment about the RhyPiBoMo challenge. This should have gone up last week but I was busy with the May day weekend and well it didn't. Here it is now though. Better late than never right? ;)
As I mentioned in a previous post, I'm taking part in the RhyPiBoMo challenge this month. It's been a fun and inspiring month. I've loved connecting with other writers and book lovers, and have learnt loads in the various blog posts and discussions.
I didn't manage to read as many rhyming children's books as I'd have liked too but I'm glad I took part.
- Day 24- Agent Kendra Marcus. Great points about the common pitfalls of rhyming children's picture books and the importance of having a strong story.
Day 22- Ed DeCaria. Awesome post about first lines. How can you not like a post that starts with...
"First lines are like fangs. They break your readers’ skin, take hold deep within, and draw them — willingly or not — into your world."

A big thank you to all of you that read my rhyming children's picture story books; Out and About at the Zoo, and Fairy May as part of this months challenge. I really appreciate your support and encourage you to leave a review as I love hearing your feedback.

Day 8: J. Patrick Lewis took a look at poetry forms and gave a lot of food for thought.
Day 11: Pat Zietlow Miller. Just the sentence “Well, if it doesn’t work, I don’t have to show it to anyone” makes this a winner in my book. She also gave some sound advice about plot.
This week I read:
The Chick Who Could Not Kick! by Tim Zak
Quick, Quick, I Feel Sick! by Allira Bell
Goodnight Ocean by Michelle Zimmerman
Things You Might See on an African Safari: A Counting Journey Through Africa by Louise Lintvelt

As the second week comes to an end I thought I'd give you an update on how it's been so far.
Firstly, I just have to mention the awesome blog posts over at https://angiekarcher.wordpress.com/ (the home of RhyPiBoMo). Each day a guest shares tips, tricks, and advice about writing rhyme. My favourite posts include:
- Tim McCanna (Day 1) who did a great job of kicking off the event.
- Marilyn Singer (Day 4) with her myths about rhyme.
- Julie Hedlund (Day 6) who shared some good tips.
Julia Donaldson is winning in the best rhyming reads so far. The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child are both awesome books.
If you're doing the challenge I hope you'll consider reading my rhyming children's picture story books; Out and About at the Zoo, and Fairy May.
