I have a new book out! The Box was released this month in both print and kindle formats but I had to reschedule the official launch of the book due to a nasty stomach bug. The virtual book tour to promote the release of The Box will now take place in April.

I loved illustrating this book and had fun with my kids as they helped come up with ideas for what the box could become. We love creative play is this household :)

If you'd like to host me on your blog or website as part of the tour please drop me an email so we can organise. I have a media kit complete with a sample interview you can pick from for quick and easy posting or you can send me your own questions to answer. Thanks in advance for your support.

The Catholic Writers Conference

From 15th to 21st March I presented a week long forum workshop at the Catholic Writers Conference Online on the topic of virtual book tours. We discussed things like the types of stops you can include in a virtual book tour, ways you can promote a VBT, and media kits and other useful tools to help keep you organised.

This is a screenshot of a post by one of the administrators Karina Fabian. I'm honoured to be given such a grand label.

Here's a screenshot with one of the comments from an attendee:

There were lots of other interesting presentations through the week too and it was a pleasure to connect with such a friendly bunch.

I know I haven't been all that active on here recently but I have been busy. Watch this video to find out what I've been up to

Join me today at 9:30pm CET at www.Facebook.com/JoLinsdell for Wall Chat Wednesday where my special guest will be author Amy Crowe. As always, you are welcome to post your own questions for Amy during the chat.

Hope to see you there!

I was recently invited to take part in an ecourse called Timeless You and jumped at the chance. Whilst I don't fit the baby boomer age range of most of the other participants I still gained a lot from the course and didn't feel out of place one bit.

Presenter Deepak Chopra offers a good mix of media formats throughout and blends in facts and advice with his observations.

Overview of what the course is about:
"You have the power to reverse the aging process and feel a decade younger! With Timeless You, you'll learn to maximize your energy, eliminate stress, keep your mind sharp, and find joy and fulfillment in every day."
The course is broken down into 6 segments:

  1. Changing Perceptions
  2. A Youthful Mind
  3. Healthy Relationships
  4. The Mind Body Connection
  5. Mindful Eating
  6. Joyful Exercise.
So why did I like the idea of this course? Well, I'm 33, a workaholic, a mum and wife, and have an immune system that doesn't work particularly well resulting in me getting pretty much every virus that goes round. The idea of having more energy, less stress, and generally improving my health sounded good.

The course takes place via http://siminars.com/ and is very easy to follow. One of the things I really liked about this course was that at the start of each segment is tells you roughly how long it will take you to complete it. You can also take a break when you want and then join back in when it suits you. That kind of flexibility is great for busy people like myself who don't necessarily have several hours free all at once to take an ecourse.

Throughout the course Chopra uses simple stories and activities to make points. There is also a social element to the course as you can both interact with other attendees using the comments section of each segment and sharing via social media is strongly encouraged.

One of the quotes Chopra uses in the course is " Everyday you can choose to see events as obstacles or opportunities. The key is knowing you have a choice." I love this and it applies to both life in general and, in my case, work situations. It gives an important reminder to focus on the present instead of the outcome and live in the present moment.

I particularly found A Youthful Mind (that talks about mental flexibility and letting go) and Healthy relationships useful. I also loved the yoga and meditation tutorials in The Mind and Body Connection. I used to do yoga regularly but over the years slowly stopped. Even those few minutes during the course made me feel better and I've now added yoga and meditation to my daily to do list again. Another thing I really liked about this section was that it offered standing and sitting options meaning that anyone could take part in the exercise.

As I'm a bit of an insomniac (a lot of writers have this problem... could be our overactive imaginations ;)), I found the part about the importance of getting restful sleep helpful.

Due to my personal health problems I've been forced to think about my diet recently and therefore was very interested to take part in the Mindful Eating segment. This is one of my favourite quotes from that part of the course "You are what you eat, so don't be fast, cheap, or fake." Hits the nail on the head doesn't it? This section also included recipes to try and took a look at the 6 taste groups and the 7 colours of the rainbow (yep the colour of your food makes a difference).

The final segment, Joyful Exercise, talked about aerobic exercise, and strength training. I'll be added both to my daily schedule from now on.

Overall I was very impressed with the Timeless You course and found it both interesting and inspiring.

Disclosure: I am being compensating for posting this, my honest review, of this product.
