Book Lovers Blog Hop: What Are You Reading This Month?

Book Lovers Blog Hop: What Are You Reading This Month?

I am so excited to announce the first stop in the Book Lovers Blog Hop! This is a little project I put together so that us book bloggers could collaborate and spread our love of books.

Over the month of August numerous book bloggers will be hosting a different bookish question on their blogs for each day of the month. Each question will be answered by those participating in the Blog Hop. I'm kicking off the action by hosting the first question, which is: What are you reading this month?

I read a LOT of books in July thanks to readathons like 24hourathon (21st July) and Booktubeathon (24th-20th July). I still have a lot on my TBR list though. This month I'd like to get through some more of my Net Galley TBR's.

I plan on reading:

What Remains of Me by A.L. Gaylin http://amzn.to/2u0zbCl
What Remains of Me by A.L. Gaylin

About the book:
People don't need to know you're a murderer. They just have to think you could be...June 1980: 17-year-old Kelly Lund is jailed for killing Hollywood film director, John McFaddenThirty years later, Kelly is a free woman. Yet speculation still swirls over what really happened that night. And when her father-in law, and close friend of McFadden is found dead - shot through the head at point-blank range - there can only be one suspect. But this time Kelly has some high-profile friends who believe she's innocent of both crimes. But is she?'You'll stay up late to read this' Laura Lippmann'Full of crackling energy and heartache' Megan Abbott'An exceptional book by an exceptional writer' Alex Marwood
Mayan Mendacity by L.J.M Owen http://amzn.to/2t27e92
Mayan Mendacity by L.J.M Owen

About the book:
Dr Elizabeth Pimms has a new puzzle. What is the story behind the tiny skeletons discovered on a Guatemalan island? And how do they relate to an ancient Mayan queen? The bones, along with other remains, are a gift for Elizabeth. But soon the giver reveals his true nature. An enraged colleague then questions Elizabeth’s family history. Elizabeth seeks DNA evidence to put all skeletons to rest.A pregnant enemy, a crystal skull, a New York foodie, and an intruder in Elizabeth’s phrenic library variously aid or interrupt Elizabeth’s attempts to solve mysteries both ancient and personal. With archaeological intrigue, forensic insight and cosy comfort, Mayan Mendacity takes readers back into the world of Dr Pimms, Intermillennial Sleuth. Really cold cases.

Here's what the team plan on reading this month:

The Evaporation of Sofi Snow by Mary Weber (I LOVED her Storm Siren series!)

On my TBR list for August are: Barrow Fiend by Amy Hopkins (her Talented Series is SOOO GOOD!) and Devotion by Katika Schneider on the indie-published front, and from the library I just picked up The Pearl Thief by Elizabeth Wein, Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, and Q is for Quarry by Sue Grafton. (her Kinsey Millhone mystery series is my go-to “for fun read” till I make it through whole alphabet!)

I am hoping to finish the Book of Mortals Series by Ted Dekker and Tosca Lee. I really liked Forbidden so I can’t wait to dig into Mortals and Sovereign in August.

Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth. I had trouble with the first few pages, but I kept at it and am enjoying it now. I love the worldbuilding.

I’d like to read Shift by Hugh Howey, Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb, and The Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson. We’ll see if I actually get through them all. -_-

Every year I read Tolkien’s epic series about Middle Earth from the Sillmarillion to Return of the King. I start June first and TRY to finish by June 30th. However I have been distracted as of late by Midnight Bayou by Nora Roberts and a new Krewe of Hunters book from Heather Graham.

I don’t create a set TBR list anymore. Too many times I’ve diverted from the path. That said, I do hope to finish 10 Step Self-Publishing Boot Camp and 5 Steps to Self-Publishing For Love or Money by S.K. Quinn. My fictional tastes will depend on what I feel like reading during the month.

Book Lovers Blog Hop: What Are You Reading This Month?

My TBR is extremely long, and I have yet to read any of the books listed. Instead, I continue to pick up new reads. Currently, I am reading the first book in the Alpha Drive Trilogy by Kristen Martin. So far, I am enjoying the series, and can’t wait to finish so I can move on to the next.

Other than my uni textbooks, I’ll be reading The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Attwood and How to Market a Book by Joanna Penn.

I can’t wait to dive into The Gold-Son by Carrie Anne Noble, since I adored her first book, The Mermaid’s Sister. After that will probably be Halayda by Sarah Delena White, which I’ve been looking forward to ever since it came outI have my fingers crossed I’ll finally get a chance to read it!

I’ll be plenty busy reading textbooks in August, very little time for “non school related reading”.  I’m in school for Electrical Engineering so: Industrial Electronics, Digital Devices, Principles of Electric Circuits, and Electronic Devices. I have Jo Linsdell’s KOSMOS next on my TBR list, and I’m busy editing my novel Visionary From The Stars- which I guess is still reading...just my own work.

Book Lovers Blog Hop: What Are You Reading This Month?

Like everyone else on this post, I’ve got a TBR list a mile long, so I’ll only mention a few. I’m working through Rachael Craw’s Spark trilogy; currently I’m in the middle of the second book of this YA Sci Fi, Stray. Mary Weber’s The Evaporation of Sofi Snow will also get finished in August, as well as another book titled Spark, this one a YA urban fantasy by J.M. Hackman. Finally, I’m looking forward to diving into Ending Fear by Deanna Fugett. And getting the colouring book that goes along with this YA dystopian!

It’s so hard to choose what to read next! I think my next reads will be Her Dangerous Visions by Brandon Barr, Perdido Street Station by China MiĂ©ville, The Song of the Sirin by Nicholas Kotar, and The King’s Gold by Arturo PĂ©rez-Reverte. I’m currently finishing up The Hawk and His Boy by Christopher Bunn, and I’m looking forward to continuing the series.

What a great mix of books! I'm sure these will help give you some reading inspiration and get you reaching for your bookshelves.
