Why I Love Book Depository: 5 Reasons Why You Will Too

Before we jump into today's post I need to let you know that I'm an affiliate for Book Depository which means I'll earn a small compensation if you buy though the links in the post. That said, I'd be doing this post even if I wasn't an affiliate for them because Book Depository is awesome!

What is Book Depository?

This is what they have to say about themselves:

Book Depository (bookdepository.com) is a leading international book retailer with a unique offer -- over 20 million books and free delivery worldwide (with no minimum spend).
We ship thousands of books every day from our fulfillment centres in Gloucester, United Kingdom, and Melbourne, Australia, to more than 130 countries across the world -- displaying prices in 26 different local currencies.
Our vision is to provide “All Books Available to All” by improving selection, access and affordability of books.
Book Depository was acquired by Amazon in 2011.

Why I Love Book Depository

1. Free shipping worldwide

Book Depository offers FREE international shipping. Now I'm pretty sure that is a plus for anyone but for people like me that live in countries where English language books are limited, and often expensive, it's a HUGE bonus.

I recently went to one of the big name bookstores here in Rome and found a book from my wish list. I found the same book on Book Depository for much less.

2. Fast Delivery

Book Depository also has one of the best delivery services I've ever come across. Not only is it free, it's fast too!

The Italian postal system is not great. In fact, to be completely honest with you, it sucks... big time. Despite this, Book Depository always manages to get my orders delivered to me in a matter of days.

Even when I placed an order on 12th December for The Snowman, the book arrived in time for Christmas. My kids love reading along with the audio CD included with the book. Italian postal system + Christmas and it got here on time. That's as close to a miracle at you can get!

The books are always well packaged and in perfect condition.

3. Bookmarks

With my recent orders Book Depository have gifted me some free bookmarks too as an added bonus.

I'm looking forward to seeing what ones I get with my next orders. I collect bookmarks so this is a lovely extra for me.

4. Great Selection of Books

With over 20 million books available on site there's plenty to suit everyone's reading tastes.

They have a great selection of books available for pre-order too.

5. Affiliate Program

As I mentioned at the start of this post, Book Depository has an affiliate program. This is great news for book bloggers as it means we can earn a little commission on the books we post about.

When you sign up you get an affiliate link. Mine is https://www.bookdepository.com/?a_aid=JoLinsdell. Whenever someone buys a book by using your affiliate link you get a commission.

    1. It's always fun to see which book mark they send. They change them all the time so it's very unlikely that you end up getting the same one twice.

  3. I've never actually ordered anything from Book Depository but then again I live in England so it's easier to find books here I guess. I do think the free shippings great though.

    1. True, in the UK it's easier to find books in the shops at reasonable prices. Still, if you can't get out and about and want a particular book Book Depository is worth keeping in mind. Deliver is super fast too so you don't have to wait long to get your order.

    1. It's awesome. As it's owned by Amazon you can basically find the same books but with free shipping ;)

  5. I use Book Depository quite a bit. Living in Australia usually means a shipping cost double the price of the book so the free shipping is really appreciated!

    1. The free shipping is definitely a major plus point for Book Depository. I'm often put off buying books online because the delivery costs more than the actual book does.

    1. Free shipping and the bookmarks are great. Sorry to hear their delivery isn't as fast for you. I guess it depends on the country.

  10. I didn't realized Amazon had acquired them but am not too surprised. I don't buy books often but will take a peek over there next time I am looking to purchase a book.

    1. Yeah Amazon bought them in 2011. I wasn't too surprised either. The great thing is that it means you can find most of the books you can find on Amazon. I discovered Book Depository when I was doing a search on my own books (it was during a period when I was basically sending out a take down action everyday to pirate websites). Anyway, I found them on Book Depository and then checked with Amazon. One of my best discoveries.

  13. It was a new experience hearing about the affiliate program offered by book depository with amazon. It's true there are many online platform that offer different type of affiliate program but finding a reliable place is really very hard and Amazon is very familiar with me for its numerous products, services and programs. Happy to know the reasons why you like book depository and trying to earn a little. But I think, the skills, time and patience have to engage to shape a helpful blog, a little commission is not enough as reward. Anyway, Jo, I enjoyed your honest expression and wish the best. Also I can share a all in one tools that can help for a marketer to make his or here business profitable and success. Please feel free to Read this. May be it will be helpful.
