The story follows a young boy who’s frightened of Halloween, and it takes us through his worries and anxieties over the year as he dreads it coming around again.
I think it’s a really good book for helping young children who are scared of certain things, not just Halloween. It could easily be used as a talking point to help kids open up about their fears and anxieties.
The illustrations were lovely – there’s lots going on in each page, so plenty for children to look at and spot.
The story is written in rhyming text, which I always enjoy in children’s books, as it makes it fun to read aloud.
Overall, I thought it was a nice read for the Halloween season, especially for kids who might find it a bit spooky. It’s a gentle way to help them face their fears and maybe even start to enjoy the holiday more.
I’m giving this one a three-star rating.
