Book Review: Finding Amish by Grace Given
Abigail Bontrager is a herbalist like her grandmother. Some might even say she is a healer.

But old wounds of the heart open up when an old flame, Samuel Yoder, tries to lure her away from her fledgling marriage to Amos.

Abigail’s search for answers and fresh herbs one day leaves her hopelessly lost, and in her absence certain members of the community complain about her foolish obsession with herbs. However, when an urgent need arises will they set aside their pride and ask for help?

    1. Thanks Nadene. Glad you enjoyed my review. It's always hard to do a review when the book wasn't the right fit. Just because I didn't particularly like the book doesn't mean that others won't though.

    1. Thanks. I personally like doing video reviews. I find it stops me from over thinking my reviews. I've never had a problem with being in front of the camera but I'm definitely more comfortable doing it now than I was in the beginning. The big turning point for me was when I stopped over planning my videos. I find they work better when I'm more natural and relaxed. Some of my earlier videos from when I started were scripted and it totally showed in the presentation. My advice... If you do decide to do video just be you and try to have fun with it.

  3. Sounds interesting but I'm not really into these kinds of books. Great review.

    1. I haven't read a lot of Amish fiction but I did get sent a couple of good books in the past from publishers that I ended up really enjoying so when I saw this quick, free read I thought why not? Unfortunately it wasn't as good as my previous samples into this genre. It was such a quick read that it's not a big deal though.

    1. The synopsis had me intrigued but it didn't quite work for me. It's a very quick read though.

  5. I grew up around the Amish and let me tell you, real-life Amish differ vastly from the lively and entertaining book Amish.

    1. I wish the Amish in this book had been more lively and entertaining. I guess this book is a more realistic representation of the real thing. I do like reading books that give a glimpse into other ways of life. I find it interesting to try and imagine cultures so different from my own.
