May 2022 Book Blogger Round Up

Book Blogger Posts Round Up

A collection of blog posts by book bloggers

This post may contain affiliate links. Meaning, I get a commission if you purchase through my links, at no cost to you. Read the full disclosure here.

Looking for new bookish content to read? Want to discover some new book bloggers to follow?  Look no further!

I introduced this new feature here on the blog in May 2021 to showcase blog posts by other book bloggers. I'll be linking up a variety of blog posts so hopefully there will be something to suit all tastes.

The following posts were submitted for inclusion in this round up via my Twitter, where I asked for posts. I'll be continuing to do this every month.

Why?

Because I like reading blog posts by other book bloggers and thought you might too. Finding the time to scan through various social media feeds to find suitable content can take up valuable time though and so I figured I'd make it easier and put together a collection here on the blog.

My plan is to include a wide variety of content so there's something for everyone. You'll find book reviews, interviews, discussion pieces and more...

Want to be included in future round ups? Follow my Twitter profile and keep an eye out for the submission tweet.

May 2022 Book Blogger Round Up

@bitchbookshelf posted about What to Know Before You Start Reading Romance Novels. Romance is easily my favorite genre, but I think it’s largely misunderstood. It’s about more than Hallmark-worthy plots, pretty dresses, and spicy scenes. Here are four things I think all readers should know if they’re interested in getting into the romance genre.

@ReadingLadiesBC took part in #TopTenTuesday with her post One Word Reviews of 10 Five Star (adult) Fiction Reads.

@Honolulubelle reviewed The Florentine by Tom Trott. "Tom Trott’s writing has never failed to entertain and always contains several stupendous twists I could never have conjured in my wildest imaginings". Read her full review here.

@WordsofMystery did a reading recap in her post what I read in April. "Not going to lie, April may have been an even more lacklustre reading month for me. A couple of reads I was looking forward to ended up disappointing me."

@TheBurgeBkshelf reviewed Rising Dust by Fleur McDonald. "Rising Dust is a wonderful blend of police procedural, crime, suspense and character development." Read her full review here.

@alitescape reviewed To Bleed A Crystal Bloom by Sarah A. Parker. "This book was so difficult for me to put down. In fact, I binge read the last 50% for the better part of a day. I’m not an expert reader of adult dark fantasy, but this is the darkest fantasy I’ve read so far." Read her full review here.

@SifaPoulton shared her review of the ARC Under Fortunate Stars by Ren Hutchings. "UNDER FORTUNATE STARS is a delightfully intricate, twisty time travel book where a vessel crucial to peace and one over a century and a half later both slip through space time. I loved watching them having to work together despite the expectations put on the Jonah‘s crew and their reactions to it." Read her full review here.

What bookish blog posts did you enjoy reading in May? Have a favourite book you read in May that you want to share?

The Perfect Storm by Sebastian Junger

The Perfect Storm by Sebastian Junger

"Takes readers into the maelstrom and shows nature's splendid and dangerous havoc at its utmost".

October 1991. It was "the perfect storm"--a tempest that may happen only once in a century--a nor'easter created by so rare a combination of factors that it could not possibly have been worse. Creating waves ten stories high and winds of 120 miles an hour, the storm whipped the sea to inconceivable levels few people on Earth have ever witnessed. Few, except the six-man crew of the Andrea Gail, a commercial fishing boat tragically headed towards its hellish center.

Incredible Five Star Books You Need to Read

Incredible Five Star Books You Need to Read

Great Reads From 2022 Selected by Book Bloggers

What books have a 5 star rating? Which books are book bloggers getting excited about? Look no further! I've got you covered...

5 star reads recommended by book bloggers

I've already had several 5 star reads so far this year including; You'll Be The Death of Me, The Two Week Wait, The Library, The Love Note, The Girl From Venice and Eight Perfect Murders. All are amazing reads and I highly recommend them.

Whilst my own 5 star reads so far this year cover different genres I wanted to be able to share even more variety and so asked my fellow book bloggers to tell me about a book they read this year that they rated 5 stars.

8 Books to add to your TBR list

Weep, Woman, Weep by Maria DeBlassie

@See_Sadie_Read picked Weep, Woman, Weep by Maria DeBlassie.

I admit that I am not really a raver. I tend to be fairly reserved in my praise. Regardless, I have to say that Weep, Woman, Weep is a truly exceptional story of surviving and escaping generational trauma (sometimes over generations, by virtue of dilution as much as individual grit). Read the full review.

I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys

@ReadingLadiesBC picked I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys.

Unputdownable: I know a book is in that elusive 5 star range when I read it in ONE day! Engaging from the first page, I Must Betray You will be on my most memorable reads of the year list. Put this into the hands of every mature teen (14+) you know! Read the full review.

A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall

@bitchbookshelf picked A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall.

What an emotional read. The first third of the story is pure hurt/comfort goodness and I could not stop crying every few pages.  Once our hero and heroine worked out how they could remain in one another’s lives, if only temporarily, the tone cheered up a little, but there was still plenty of angsty romance goodness. And as I am led to believe is common for this author, the side characters added so much heart and humor to the story. This emotional, romantic read is my favorite romance of 2022 so far and I rate it 5 stars. Read the full review.

George Bunce and the Black Wave of Fear by Martin Geraghty.

@cats_herding picked George Bunce and the Black Wave of Fear by Martin Geraghty.

This book is a really sweet look at friendships and how we can develop them at any point in our lives.  It’s also a thought provoking insight into how our lives can change as we grow older and how someone we know may feel about that. It’s heart-warming and sweet and lovely book.  I highly recommend it. Read the full review.

Thirty Angry Ghosts by Mai Black

@nsfordwriter picked Thirty Angry Ghosts by Mai Black.

A brilliant collection of poems from the perspectives of famous historical people. Inspiring, educational and thought-provoking, the poems bring history alive. There are well-written biographical notes at the end of the book. I hadn’t heard of a few of the people before, so I enjoyed being introduced to them. Read the full review.

The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

@Honolulubelle picked The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

What guile! I fell right into a smartly laid trap and was easily led astray by these wily wordsmiths. I was totally hoodwinked by their agile misdirection and had felt so smug in my theories. I was sooo very, very, wrong! A lot was going on at once with multiple storylines that were actively engaging while taut with tension and a steadily ratcheting sense of intrigue and impending peril. Read the full review.

Misrule by Heather Walter

@sarabeand picked Misrule by Heather Walter.

The only thing that I didn’t like about this book is the fact that I can only read it for the first time, once... Misrule just showed up and declares itself my favorite book of 2022... Read the full review.

Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong

@DBLbookblog picked Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong

When I thought Gong’s writing couldn’t get any better, Our Violent Ends completely exceeded my expectations! Chloe Gong’s an author I plan on automatically buying new books from now because I love her writing style that much! While These Violent Delights introduced me and established my love for Gong’s storytelling, Our Violent Ends elevated this passion to new heights. Read the full review.

12 days. 10 ports. 1 soul searing kiss that could change her life . . .

Getting shot down after trying to kiss a handsome stranger? Embarrassing. Discovering the guy is on her Italian cruise? Humiliating.

Lily tries to avoid the mystery man, but the tug to know him is as strong as the Mediterranean current. To make her mortification complete, her best friend is determined to play matchmaker.

Is it too late to jump ship?

The cruise is strictly business for Zander. He's here to build his photography portfolio, not get side-tracked by a romantic fling. The last woman Zander loved died a year ago, and he's not sure he's over her yet. But he finds himself irresistibly drawn to Lily, who looks nearly as lost as he feels.

When the cruise ends, Lily and Zander must decide if one kiss is enough to build a future on or if their feelings will be swept away with the tide.
