5 star reads recommended by book bloggers

I've already had several 5 star reads so far this year including; You'll Be The Death of MeThe Two Week Wait, The Library, The Love Note, The Girl From Venice and Eight Perfect Murders. All are amazing reads and I highly recommend them.

Whilst my own 5 star reads so far this year cover different genres I wanted to be able to share even more variety and so asked my fellow book bloggers to tell me about a book they read this year that they rated 5 stars.

8 Books to add to your TBR list

Weep, Woman, Weep by Maria DeBlassie

@See_Sadie_Read picked Weep, Woman, Weep by Maria DeBlassie.

I admit that I am not really a raver. I tend to be fairly reserved in my praise. Regardless, I have to say that Weep, Woman, Weep is a truly exceptional story of surviving and escaping generational trauma (sometimes over generations, by virtue of dilution as much as individual grit). I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys

Unputdownable: I know a book is in that elusive 5 star range when I read it in ONE day! Engaging from the first page, I Must Betray You will be on my most memorable reads of the year list. Put this into the hands of every mature teen (14+) you know! Read the full review.

A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall

What an emotional read. The first third of the story is pure hurt/comfort goodness and I could not stop crying every few pages.  Once our hero and heroine worked out how they could remain in one another’s lives, if only temporarily, the tone cheered up a little, but there was still plenty of angsty romance goodness. And as I am led to believe is common for this author, the side characters added so much heart and humor to the story. This emotional, romantic read is my favorite romance of 2022 so far and I rate it 5 stars. Read the full review.

George Bunce and the Black Wave of Fear by Martin Geraghty.

This book is a really sweet look at friendships and how we can develop them at any point in our lives.  It’s also a thought provoking insight into how our lives can change as we grow older and how someone we know may feel about that. It’s heart-warming and sweet and lovely book.  I highly recommend it. Read the full review.

Thirty Angry Ghosts by Mai Black

A brilliant collection of poems from the perspectives of famous historical people. Inspiring, educational and thought-provoking, the poems bring history alive. There are well-written biographical notes at the end of the book. I hadn’t heard of a few of the people before, so I enjoyed being introduced to them. Read the full review.

The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

What guile! I fell right into a smartly laid trap and was easily led astray by these wily wordsmiths. I was totally hoodwinked by their agile misdirection and had felt so smug in my theories. I was sooo very, very, wrong! A lot was going on at once with multiple storylines that were actively engaging while taut with tension and a steadily ratcheting sense of intrigue and impending peril. Read the full review.

Misrule by Heather Walter

The only thing that I didn’t like about this book is the fact that I can only read it for the first time, once... Misrule just showed up and declares itself my favorite book of 2022... Read the full review.

Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong

When I thought Gong’s writing couldn’t get any better, Our Violent Ends completely exceeded my expectations! Chloe Gong’s an author I plan on automatically buying new books from now because I love her writing style that much! While These Violent Delights introduced me and established my love for Gong’s storytelling, Our Violent Ends elevated this passion to new heights. Read the full review.
