June 2022 Book Blogger Round Up

Book Blogger Posts Round Up

A collection of blog posts by book bloggers

This post may contain affiliate links. Meaning, I get a commission if you purchase through my links, at no cost to you. Read the full disclosure here.

Looking for new bookish content to read? Want to discover some new book bloggers to follow?  Look no further!

I introduced this new feature here on the blog in May 2021 to showcase blog posts by other book bloggers. I'll be linking up a variety of blog posts so hopefully there will be something to suit all tastes.

The following posts were submitted for inclusion in this round up via my Twitter, where I asked for posts. I'll be continuing to do this every month.

Why?

Because I like reading blog posts by other book bloggers and thought you might too. Finding the time to scan through various social media feeds to find suitable content can take up valuable time though and so I figured I'd make it easier and put together a collection here on the blog.

My plan is to include a wide variety of content so there's something for everyone. You'll find book reviews, interviews, discussion pieces and more...

Want to be included in future round ups? Follow my Twitter profile and keep an eye out for the submission tweet.

@ReadingLadiesBC reviewed Nora Goes Off Script by Annabel Monaghan. "All in All, I think this would be a fun and engaging beach or pool-side read this summer. I’m recommending Nora Goes Off Script for fans of romance and women’s fiction (chick-lit). Perfect for your beach bag!" Read the full review here.

@sperchikoff reviewed The Agathas by Liz Lawson and Kathleen Glasgow. "It’s mystery, it’s strong female friendships, it’s Agatha Christie, it’s sleuthing, it’s police not having a goddamn clue, it’s inner struggles, and it’s standing up for friends and for yourself." Read the full review here.

@WordsofMystery did a post listing everything she read in May. An Emma retelling with an Asian main cast, an unexpected story about a woman trying to change in a country where ancient patriarchal traditions still persist, even within the most modern of cities, a childhood friends to lovers romance, a modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and some audiobooks too. Read the full post here.

@cats_herding joined the virtual book tour for Nothing Else by Louise Beech sharing her thoughts about the book. "A haunting, but beautiful story of sisterhood, music and healing." Read the full review here.

@Honolulubelle reviewed The Gin Sisters’ Promise by Faith Hogan. "Faith Hogan is one of my all-time favorite authors, her thoughtful and emotive writing resonates with me despite the differences in our cultures and the oceans between us. I always look forward to reading her work." Read the full review here.

@See_Sadie_Read reviewed a whole series of 10 books in the The City Between series by W.R. Gingell. "All in all, for a bit of absurdist, urban fantasy fun, this worked a treat and I’ll be looking for more from this author." Read all 10 of her reviews in this post.

Over the summer months @Mehsi_Hime had decided to feature one Top 10 books featuring a summery theme each month. This month the theme was Summer Camps. 10 great books about summer camps. Featuring murder, time travel, some good old fun, friendship, and tons of summer!

The Secret Life of a Book Blogger Tag

Tags for Book Bloggers

The Secret Life of a Book Blogger Tag

It came to my attention recently that it's been a while since I did a book tag. As book tags tend to be a lot of fun I figured I'd search for some I haven't done before.

I found The Secret Life of a Book Blogger tag on readingreadingreading.com and thought it would be fun to do.

You can watch my answers to the book tag here:

The Questions:

How long have you been a blogger?
At what point do you think you'll stop blogging?
What is the best thing about blogging?
What is the worst thing about blogging? What do you do to make it OK?
How long does it take you to make/find pictures to use?
Who is your book crush?
What author would you like to have on your blog?
What do you wear when you write your blog posts?
How long does it take you to prepare?
How do you feel about the blogging community?
What do you think one should do to create a successful blog?

As I wasn't tagged to do this I'm not going to tag anyone in particular. If you would like to do the tag please consider yourself tagged by me.
I wasn't able to find out who created the original tag as it's been around for years (at least since 2019 if not before) so if you know who it was please pass on the details so I can give proper credit to the creator.

Do you know of another great book tag I should do? Also, feel free to tag me in any book tags you do.

The book synopsis for All Aboard the London Bus by Patricia Toht

All Aboard the London Bus by Patricia Toht

Come! Board the London Bus
and see the London sights with us.
At any time, hop off, explore!
Then climb back on, and ride some more…

As a family of four spend a day exploring London, fun, child-friendly poems introduce readers to our wonderful capital city, and all its secrets. Well-known landmarks like Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and the London Eye, plus inescapable features like rain and taking tea, all get Patty Toht's witty treatment. Non-fiction facts provide more information about the poetry subjects, while rising star Sam Usher brings them to life with his signature style and humour. This gorgeous celebration of London will be loved by both tourists and those who call the city home.

Book synopsis for The Dark Matter of Natasha by Matthew R. Davis

Natasha stalks the quiet streets of dead-end Lunar Bay like doom in a denim jacket. She’s a grim reminder that some teenagers can never escape the ever-tightening noose of their lives. Burned out and benumbed by a traumatic past, dogged by scurrilous small-town gossip, she finds solace in drugs, sex and Slayer. What horrors have her flat eyes witnessed? And how far will she go in pursuit of the one tiny spark of hope that still flickers in her haunted heart?

When a naïve transplant crosses her path, he's drawn into shadow and doubt. With his girlfriend ghosting him, Natasha’s fresh introduction to her half-lit world is darkly appealing. Now faced with confusing quandaries—connection or convenience, relationship or exploitation—can he help any of the women in his life?  Or is he just helping himself? The untold tragedies of Natasha's lonely life may be more than he can handle. And in a town whose history is littered with dead girls, there may be no happy ending for anyone.

A tar-black coming of age story, this gritty psychological thriller from Shirley Jackson Award-nominated author Matthew R. Davis, eloquently chronicles the crushing gravity of small-town hopelessness, the double-edged catharsis of sex, drugs, and heavy metal, and the brutal weight of youth's first lessons in accountability.

2022 Challenges: May Update

I'm still trying to get back to normal post-covid and whilst I'm doing much better I'm still struggling with fatigue. Being tired all the time isn't the best thing for productivity especially when it comes to reading. Reading tends to make me sleepy as it is so throw in fatigue on top and progress is slow. That said, I am making progress.
