December 2022 Book Blogger Round Up

Book Blogger Posts Round Up

A collection of blog posts by book bloggers

This post may contain affiliate links. Meaning, I get a commission if you purchase through my links, at no cost to you. Read the full disclosure here.

Welcome to the last Book Blogger Round Up of 2022!

Looking for new bookish content to read? Want to discover some new book bloggers to follow?  Look no further!

I introduced this new feature here on the blog in May 2021 to showcase blog posts by other book bloggers. I'll be linking up a variety of blog posts so hopefully there will be something to suit all tastes.

The following posts were submitted for inclusion in this round up via my Twitter, where I asked for posts. I'll be continuing to do this every month.

Why?

Because I like reading blog posts by other book bloggers and thought you might too. Finding the time to scan through various social media feeds to find suitable content can take up valuable time though and so I figured I'd make it easier and put together a collection here on the blog.

My plan is to include a wide variety of content so there's something for everyone. You'll find book reviews, interviews, discussion pieces and more...

Want to be included in future round ups? Follow my Twitter profile and keep an eye out for the submission tweet.

December 2022 Book Blogger Round Up

@alitescape shared her book review of A Thousand Steps Into Night by Traci Chee. "The writing is succinct, yet emotive, and Miuko is an admirable main character. This is a story about self discovery, honesty with oneself, and having the courage to break the mold and forge one’s own path." Read the full review here.

@WordsofMystery recapped what she read in November. "This year as part of “Nonfiction November” I made an active decision to focus on reading more non-fiction books from my TBR for the month, and I managed to get through three!" Find out all the books she read in the post What I Read In November.

@ReadingLadiesBC took part in Top Ten Tuesday with 10 Books on My Winter 2022/2023 TBR.

@BiblioNerdRflxn shared an ARC Review – In the Lives of Puppets. "The story and characters were full of heart and a joy to read, even in the parts that made me incredibly sad. Despite being bleak at times, a thread of hope in the form of connection weaves its way through everything that happens. I laughed. I cried. I felt awe and anxiety. The story put me through a wide range of feelings, as Klune’s stories usually do." Read the full review here.

@Mehsi_Hime took part in Top Ten Tuesday with Covers featuring Christmas trees. Read the post here.

@sperchikoff reviewed A Dash of Salt and Pepper by Kosoka Jackson and labelled it her favourite romance of the year. "I. LOVE. THIS. BOOK. The banter is off the charts. It’s definitely the best snark I’ve read in a while. It’s delightful. I also LOVE Xavier and Logan’s relationship. It’s fun, meaningful, and beautiful. I loved watching it grow as they went to the farmer’s market, danced at a local bar, and cooked together. They are couple goals times 1000." Read the full review here.

@cjfriess shared her review of Clara Claus Saves Christmas by Bonnie Bridgman & Louise Forshaw. "Readers can follow the countdown to Christmas under each chapter heading which tells us how many days there are until Christmas, what level the Joy-O-Meter is on and particular specialties of the day." Read the full review here.

@kalventure shared the 2023 Ultimate Book Blogger / Reader Spreadsheet Template. This thing is awesome! Grab your copy now

@flash_mama reviewed Embryo Zero by Trevor Wynyard. "The second book in the dystopian fiction Streetlighters Trilogy, Embryo Zero again features brothers Matthew and Kevin Turner, along with a few new characters and familiar faces from the first book." Read the full review here.

@janelesley did a Twitter review thread for Cooking The Books: A Killer Collection Of Recipes To Die For by The Hobeck Team. "#CookingTheBooks is a veritable culinary reading treat: funny, shocking, cleverly twisted, innocently manipulative and if this bite sized anthology doesn't wet your appetite to read every contributors' books, then you must have a gastric thriller band fitted." Read the full thread here.

@bookcoffeehappy shared Blogmas 2022: Non Holiday Book Review: Skinny by Donna Cooner. "What a beautiful book in every way. I fell in love with these characters and had a hard time saying good-bye to them once I finished reading." Read the full post here.

@Bookmadjo reviewed A Child for the Reich by Andie Newton as part of the book tour. "Although immensely relatable, this poignant book had an escalating tension, with many moments where I found my heart pounding madly, and I found myself thinking about it when I was busy doing other things. I would love to see it made into a movie, it has the dramatic quality that would work perfectly, with a strong and determined heroine." Read the full review here.

One night while drawing a portrait, she feels a sinister emotion projected by a woman named Luciana, who invites Malibu to her Presidio Heights mansion.

Most Viewed Blog Posts Of 2022

As I have older posts that still get a lot of regular traffic (an upside of evergreen content 😉), I feel like I should split this into two separate lists; one with my most viewed posts in 2022 (this includes all posts to the site including those published in previous years), and the other with my most popular posts from this year (only posts published in 2022).

Stats for Pageviews to My Blog This Year

My most viewed posts this year are as follows:

In first place with over 72,000 pageviews in 2022 (over 95,000 in total since publication) is Things That Should Be In Every Blog Post.

In second place with 17.5K pageviews is 60 Blog Posts Ideas for Book Bloggers

In third place with 12.9K pageviews is Blog Audit Challenge: Keywords and SEO

My most popular posts from this year are as follows:

In first place with 1.95K pageviews is Book Blogging in 2022 Survey. I published this post in May 2022.

In second place with 1.6K pageviews is Book Spotlight: We Watch You by NS Ford

In third place with  838 pageviews is How Often Do Book Bloggers Post?

My most popular book reviews:

My most popular book review of all time is Book Review: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling with 2.01K pageviews.

My most popular book review from this year is Book Review: All Aboard the London Bus by Patricia Toht with 461 pageviews.

As always I was curious to see what blog posts were the most popular for other book bloggers during 2022 and so I took to Twitter to ask the book blogging community to share their most viewed posts of the year.

Book Bloggers Most Viewed Blog Posts This Year

#QuestionOfTheDay

What has been your most viewed post this year? Why do you think it was appealing?#BookBloggers #BookBlogs #BookBlogging #BookTwitter

— Jo Linsdell (@jolinsdell) December 2, 2022

For @PagesUnbound it was Ten Young Adult Books with Male Protagonists. "I think it's popular because people Google teen books they think will appeal to boys because YA seems so girl-oriented."

@Art_of_Reading shared "I had other posts viewed more often, but I want to leave my most viewed review with you. It's an holocaust biography, which touched me deeply." The Boy Who Wouldn't Hate Book Review

@BiblioNerdRflxn stated "My most viewed post so far this year is my review of Babel. I'm not sure why this one has done so well. It did really great when I first published it and continues to bring in regular traffic via Google search results". ARC Review – Babel, or The Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators’ Revolution.

@alitescape said "This book review has the most unique views for 2022. I'm surprised since this seems to have a more niche following. Maybe SEO helped a bit?" Book Review: To Bleed A Crystal Bloom by Sarah A. Parker

For @ReadingLadiesBC it was her book review of The Stranger in the Lifeboat by Mitch Albom. "Most viewed this year is Stranger in the Lifeboat by Mitch Albom (9,430). 1. Albom is a popular and well known author. 2. I reviewed close to pub day. 3. The content might have caused more readers to seek out reviews."

@nsfordwriter said "My most viewed post this year was from 2018, 'The 5 themes of Roald Dahl'. It comes up as a Google snippet and I think people must be linking to it as I have views of it pretty much every day!" The 5 themes of Roald Dahl

@ramblingsblog_ stated "My most viewed post of the year is my review of Outlander probably either because of the popularity of the TV series. That, or @The_WriteReads might have picked it as a review of the day 😂"

@SifaPoulton said "WIN LOSE KILL DIE by Cynthia Murphy (makes up 3% of all hits, 4% once you remove page hits) - it went big on TikTok and I happened to have one of the highest results on a google search for a review for it" Book Review: WIN LOSE KILL DIE by Cynthia Murphy.

For @FantasyBookNerd it was Blood of Heirs by Alicia Wanstall Burke. "My most looked at post is a review of Blood of Heirs by Alicia Wanstall - Burke. I think with it being in SPFBO people were interested to see what this brilliant fantasy series was all about."

@Mehsi_Hime said "This year's top post has been It Ends With Us review which I wrote in 2016. I am guessing Colleen Hoover is popular. XD As for a post from this year, my Mid Year Freak Out Book Tag is popular. I am guessing people love seeing what I read + more."

@charlotteslib stated "My most viewed book review was for Nordy Bank, by Sheena Porter (1964); since vintage children's books aren't reviewed often, they show up higher in searches; just checked google and mine is the first review, after a bunch of sellers"

@owlbookworld said "Mine has been books about school shootings and I feel like that has a lot to do with me living in the US."

For @reader_at_work it was "I’m glad to have been wrong because the prize for highest views goes to this review: Review: A Half-Built Garden by Ruthanna Emrys .

Books on my Christmas Wish List

Books on my Christmas Wish List

There are so many books I would like in my collection. I have this dream of one day having a big home library like Belle in Beauty and the Beast (a girl can dream...). Whilst I'm still a long way off of that particular goal I do hope to add a few books to my shelves this Christmas.

I'm not sure how many books I'll get or which one's they'll be but these are a few I'd really like to add to my shelves.

The Bridgerton series

Amazon

I loved watching the Bridgerton series on Netflix and would love to read the whole series to see how they compare.

Believe Me by JP Delaney

Amazon

I've fast become a JP Delaney fan having been lucky enough to read several of his books thanks to the publishers and Net Galley. Definitely an auto-buy author for me now.

I've seen numerous videos on Youtube and read raving reviews of his books. The title that often comes up as one of the best is Believe Me, which I have yet to read. Needless to say, I must have a copy!

Check out my reviews of some of his other titles: My Darling Daughter, The Perfect Wife, The Girl Before.

Colleen Hoover

Amazon

I've seen readers raving about how good Colleen Hoover books are for a while now. She has not one, but two books listed in the final round of the Goodreads Choice Awards 2022 for the best romance category.

I finally got round to sampling Colleen Hoover this year when I picked up her novella Finding Cinderella. I definitely want to read more of her work.

Check out my review of Finding Cinderella

Book cover Fracture by Elyse Hoffman

A heart-wrenching WW2 story of forbidden love and torn allegiances.

Franz Keidel is a monsterous SS soldier: loyal, hateful, and devoted to Hitler. With a cold heart, he hunts down his Führer’s enemies, but one fateful mission will fracture his shield of ice.

While hunting for Jews, Franz stumbles across a familiar face: Amos Auman, his childhood friend. Amos is the only source of joy in Franz’s life, but he is also a Jew. Unable to bring himself to kill his friend, Franz vows to protect Amos from his fellow Nazis.

As Franz spends more time with Amos, bringing him food and books, he falls in love with his kind-hearted friend. How could he fall in love with a man, a Jew? How can he continue to hate Jews when a Jew has thawed his icy heart?

And what will Franz do if he has to choose between Amos and his loyalty to Hitler? What choices does he have when he is already beyond redemption?
