Welcome to the December Book Bloggers Round Up!

Finding the time to scan through various social media feeds to find suitable content can take up valuable time and so I figured I'd make it easier and put together a collection here on the blog.

Each month I'll include a wide variety of content so there's something for everyone. You'll find book reviews, interviews, discussion pieces and more...

So if you're looking for new bookish content to read and/or want to discover some new book bloggers to follow, look no further!

I introduced this new feature here on the blog in May 2021 to showcase blog posts by other book bloggers. I'll be linking up a variety of blog posts so hopefully there will be something to suit all tastes.

The following posts were submitted for inclusion in this round up via my Twitter, where I asked for posts. I'll be continuing to do this every month.

Want to be included in future round ups? Follow my Twitter profile and keep an eye out for the submission tweet.

@WordsofMystery recapped what she read in the Fall. There’s a little bit of everything in this wrap-up. Read the full post here.

@ReadingLadiesBC reviewed The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown. "The Boys in the Boat is a story of competitive sport, history, and healing. Knowing that the boys in the boat eventually win gold does not detract from the compelling, nail-biting, (at times) suspenseful, and emotional story." Read the full post here.

@DanSamEnd reviewed Soldiers Don’t Go Mad by Charles Glass. "Soldiers Don’t Go Mad offers much food for thought. It’s an important read raising many questions that are still relevant today. It’s gripping and eye-opening – I highly recommend." Read the full post here.

Welcome to the Clock Reading Challenge 2024!

I started the Clock Reading Challenge in 2021 and every year I've discovered some great books through doing the challenge. There's a lot of books out there with the numbers one to twelve in their titles!

If you're looking for a relatively easy reading challenge to do in 2024 the Clock Reading Challenge is for you! It only involves reading a total of 12 books during the year.

That said, some numbers can be a little trickier to find books for than others...

The Challenge

The goal: to read 12 books, each with a number from 1 to 12 in the title.

The officially hashtag for the event: #ClockReadingChallenge

Keeping track of your progress: I've created this graphic so you can fill in your clock with the book covers of the books you read. Hopefully at the end of the year your clock will be complete.

The Clock Reading Challenge 2024

12 books in 12 months, each with a number from one to twelve in the title to make up a clock face.

This is a very relaxed reading challenge. There is no punishment for not reading all 12 books.

Skip a month? No problem. The goal is 12 books in 12 months so you have plenty of time to catch up latter on if needed.

If you'd like to plan out the books you want to read for the challenge in advance here's a template you can use for your TBR:

Product Review: L'Orèal Elvive Dream Long Rapid Reviver Hair Cream

I'm not a natural blonde. I bleach my hair and we all know that doing so can damage the condition of the hair quite considerably. Is that going to stop me from being blonde? No, it is not. I like being blonde... at least until I change my mind and decide to try a different colour (I have been known to change my hair colour quite often).

Anyway, all this bleach and hair dye means I'm always on the look out for great products to give my hair the TLC it so desperately needs.

I have found my favourite product of the year!

L'Orèal Elvive Dream Long Rapid Reviver Hair Cream is a miracle worker!

FYI this isn't a sponsored post. I just purchased this product and really liked it.

Review

As with most L'Orèal Elvive products the price range isn't crazy expensive which means it's budget friendly to those of us who don't have huge amounts of money to thrown around for our hair products.

L'Orèal Elvive Dream Long Rapid Reviver Hair Cream is seriously the best product I've tried. After just one use it left my hair so soft I couldn't believe. I should also point out that the first time I used it was directly after having bleached my hair again, so it had it's work cut out for it. Not only did it not disappoint, it went way beyond my expectations. I left it on my hair for 2-3 minutes before washing it out so it didn't require a long leave-in time to get results either.

Another plus point is that you don't need a large amount of the product. This means that the bottle should last for at least a few months.

I will definitely be buying this again. I'll also now be trying the other products in the Dream Long range.

Book synopsis' for children's books by Marsha Casper Cook

Snack Attack by Marsha Casper Cook

Snack Attack by Marsha Casper Cook
We all know if a child eats too much candy and cookies they don't feel well. They ask all the time and sometimes get angry when they are told no. But Addison's mom decided to give Addison a free day to eat everything he wanted in whatever order he decided upon.

At first, it seemed liked fun but by the time he got to bed his tummy hurt. His mom knew why and she told him he would feel like new in the morning. But once morning came, he decided he would eat the dish of oatmeal his mother gave him. Usually, he complained more than he ate but that morning he finished the oatmeal and decided that would be how he would always start the day.

Snack Attack" is a fun, creative look at nutrition that shows children eating well is a matter of making the right choices. It sends its message without preaching to its audience. This is a charming book for children to read alone or with an adult. It will fast become a family favorite. This is also a great book for grandparents to add to their bookshelf.

Addison likes to read and write stories inside, and Emelina likes to be outdoors, jogging, skating, and just about anything that keeps her active. She likes healthy food and Addison has a sweet tooth. A few weeks after they meet, they are surprised to find out that they both signed up for Jr. Detective School. They end up teaming up to solve their fist case — a classmate’s shoes have disappeared. With very little to go on, Emelina and Addison try to find the shoes. A friendship develops between the two of them when they solve the first of many cases.

Book Spotlight Children's Books by Marsha Casper Cook

What people are saying about Children's Books by Marsha Casper Cook

This a great collection of fun poems kids will love. The author uses humor and rhymes with fun pictures that make the world of poetry fun for all. This is such a fun, amazing way to help children love poems.

This is a cute and fun story to read with your children. My  6 old year grandson, loves Addison’s adventure with snacks and hopes the author will write more Addison stories.

"No Clues No Shoes" is a wonderful, lighthearted story for third grade on up to read independently, or younger children to read with an adult. It's a charmingly written chapter book that will keep a young reader's interest.

The audio version is great as well. The narration was done by Gabrielle Byrne. Gabrielle really sounds so kid-friendly and her expressions in words will make kids laugh and understand better. I highly highly recommend this to anyone and everyone, who reads bedtime stories to their kids.
