Book Blogging in 2024 Survey
Book Blogger Survey Results and Statistics
For the past few years I've done an annual Book Blogging Survey to see what stats look like for book blogs.
I wanted to be able to offer and encourage more transparency about the statistics of book bloggers by trying to get a better idea about average book blogging statistics.
Here you can find the results for 2022 and 2023.
So, welcome to the Book Blogging in 2024 Survey Results!
As I did last year, I'll be comparing my findings with the results from previous years to see if the same answers still apply in 2024.

I should also point out that my blog is now a lifestyle blog and not exclusively limited to bookish content (although books remain my main topic).

Now it's time to see how this years results match up with previous years.
I set up a thread of polls on my Twitter profile, just like I did in previous years, using the same four questions.
Book Blogging in 2024 Survey Results
How long have you been book blogging?
This year has the lowest percentage of new book blogs compared to previous years (4.1% in 2022 and 6.3% in 2023). I hope this is because the number of people who participated is lower this year and it because people aren't joining the book blogging community.
1-5 years has had the highest percentage in each of the previous years (60.8% in 2022 and 47.9% in 2023) so this is the first time there's been a shift to 5-10 as the majority. This is good news as it means a lot of those same book bloggers are still going.
It's great to see such a high amount now in the Over 10 years category. Experienced, dedicated book bloggers still sharing their love of reading.
How many page views do you get per month on average?
Although the majority of book bloggers are still in the less than 5K category, it's great to see that the Over 20K category has increased so much especially considering the number of votes this year was less than previous years. This is a great indicator that readership of book blogs is growing considerably. In 2023 only 2.2% had over 20K.
On average, how many comments do you get on your blog each day?
0-5 84%
6-10 12%
11-20 4%
Over 20 0%
This continues to be one of the areas where the majority continues to struggle. The 0-5 category has consistently been the majority each year (88% in 2022 and 87% in 2023).
Where does most of your blog traffic come from?
Search engines 58.8%
Social media links 35.3%
Newsletter subscribers 0%
Other 5.9%
Search engines continue to be the highest source of traffic for book blogs with social media in second place again.
This is the first year that Newsletters have got 0% (2% in 2022 and 4.3% in 2023). This could be an indication that Newsletters are no longer worth investing in.
The Other category (14.3% in 2022 and 12.8% in 2023) has also reduced.
If you know of other surveys offering statistics to do with book blogging please let me know about them in the comments section below.
Conclusion
I hope this survey has offered some valuable insight into book blogging statistics and given you some food for thought.
We're all at different points in our book blogging journey and a lot of us are struggling with the same problems... even those of us that have been doing it for years. Don't get discouraged.
Did any of these results surprise you? Where do you stand in regards to the book blogging average for these stats?
