Welcome to another Book Bloggers Round Up post! Let's see what book bloggers posted about during December.

I introduced this feature here on the blog in May 2021 to showcase blog posts by other book bloggers and as it continues to be a popular series I've decided to continue again this year too.

Each month I'll include a wide variety of content so there's something for everyone. You'll find book reviews, interviews, discussion pieces and more...

So if you're looking for new bookish content to read and/or want to discover some new book bloggers to follow, look no further!

Why I do this feature:

Scanning through various social media feeds to find suitable content can take up valuable time and so I figured I'd make it easier and put together a collection here on the blog.

It's also a way for me to highlight some of the other great book bloggers out there and help promote books and reading at the same time.

How it works:

Each month I do a post via my Twitter, where I offer the opportunity for book bloggers to submit posts published during that month for inclusion in this round up. I do this every month.

@ReadingLadiesBC shared her Favourite Historical Fiction of 2025 as part of Top Ten Tuesday. Read the full post here.

@leftontheshelf1 reviewed The Making of Maddy James by Sara Sartagne. "The book has been well written, and the author understands her characters very well. Equally, I felt she had researched and spent time in Corfu in order to compose such a compelling atmosphere for her novel." You can find her full review here.

@booklorefairy reviewed Into The GigaVerse by M. L. Tilford. "Into The GigaVerse truly kept me guessing at every turn. It was exciting, mysterious, thrilling, and made me forget that I don’t really like science fiction." Read the full review here.

@WordsofMystery reviewed Never Ever After by Sue Lynn Tan. "What redeemed the lukewarm plot of Never Ever After was Sue Lynn Tan’s writing; despite some initial pacing issues, it’s so lyrical and flows beautifully. I also loved her rich descriptions of palace life, especially the fashion and the food. Plus I didn’t hate how often the female characters stole the “show,” as the male characters in Never Ever After were either just supporting characters or just “there.”". Read the full review here.

@TStrawberryPost reviewed Angelo and Angelina: The Christmas Angels by Anne Booth & Leanne Hatch. "Overall this is a lovely story that makes you smile so much after reading it. I love the message about the angels at the end as well as the wider story about Mia, her parents and Mrs Lovely and the way it encourages people to think of others, especially those who are older in the community." Welcome to the last Book Blogger Round Up of 2022!

Looking for new bookish content to read? Want to discover some new book bloggers to follow? Look no further!

I introduced this new feature here on the blog in May 2021 to showcase blog posts by other book bloggers. I'll be linking up a variety of blog posts so hopefully there will be something to suit all tastes.

The following posts were submitted for inclusion in this round up via my Twitter, where I asked for posts. I'll be continuing to do this every month.

Why?

Because I like reading blog posts by other book bloggers and thought you might too. Finding the time to scan through various social media feeds to find suitable content can take up valuable time though and so I figured I'd make it easier and put together a collection here on the blog.

December 2022 Book Blogger Round Up

@alitescape shared her book review of A Thousand Steps Into Night by Traci Chee. "The writing is succinct, yet emotive, and Miuko is an admirable main character. This is a story about self discovery, honesty with oneself, and having the courage to break the mold and forge one’s own path." Read the full review here.

@ReadingLadiesBC took part in Top Ten Tuesday with 10 Books on My Winter 2022/2023 TBR.

@BiblioNerdRflxn shared an ARC Review – In the Lives of Puppets. "The story and characters were full of heart and a joy to read, even in the parts that made me incredibly sad. Despite being bleak at times, a thread of hope in the form of connection weaves its way through everything that happens. I laughed. I cried. I felt awe and anxiety. The story put me through a wide range of feelings, as Klune’s stories usually do." Read the full review here.

@Mehsi_Hime took part in Top Ten Tuesday with Covers featuring Christmas trees. Read the post here.

@sperchikoff reviewed A Dash of Salt and Pepper by Kosoka Jackson and labelled it her favourite romance of the year. "I. LOVE. THIS. BOOK. The banter is off the charts. It’s definitely the best snark I’ve read in a while. It’s delightful. I also LOVE Xavier and Logan’s relationship. It’s fun, meaningful, and beautiful. I loved watching it grow as they went to the farmer’s market, danced at a local bar, and cooked together. They are couple goals times 1000." Read the full review here.

@cjfriess shared her review of Clara Claus Saves Christmas by Bonnie Bridgman & Louise Forshaw. "Readers can follow the countdown to Christmas under each chapter heading which tells us how many days there are until Christmas, what level the Joy-O-Meter is on and particular specialties of the day." @janelesley did a Twitter review thread for Cooking The Books: A Killer Collection Of Recipes To Die For by The Hobeck Team. "#CookingTheBooks is a veritable culinary reading treat: funny, shocking, cleverly twisted, innocently manipulative and if this bite sized anthology doesn't wet your appetite to read every contributors' books, then you must have a gastric thriller band fitted." @bookcoffeehappy shared Blogmas 2022: Non Holiday Book Review: Skinny by Donna Cooner. "What a beautiful book in every way. I fell in love with these characters and had a hard time saying good-bye to them once I finished reading." Read the full post here.

@Bookmadjo reviewed A Child for the Reich by Andie Newton as part of the book tour. "Although immensely relatable, this poignant book had an escalating tension, with many moments where I found my heart pounding madly, and I found myself thinking about it when I was busy doing other things. I would love to see it made into a movie, it has the dramatic quality that would work perfectly, with a strong and determined heroine." Read the full review here.

Ways You Can Help Your Fellow Book Bloggers This Holiday Season

What better time of year to give back to your fellow book bloggers than during the Holiday season?!

I'm a big believer in supporting others. We're in this journey together. Another blogger success doesn't diminish my own. We all have individual goals for our book blogs and unique visions about the sort of book blog we want to run. This isn't a competition where we're against each other. It's a community, and communities support each other and help each other reach their goals.

So how can we support our fellow book bloggers during this festive time of year?

Ways to Support Book Bloggers

1) Tell them you like their content.

Everyone likes to hear if they're doing a goo job and book bloggers are no different. So often bloggers put out content and although traffic might be good, they never see comments to give them feedback. At times it can feel like we're just talking into the void. A simple message to let them know their content is appreciated can really make their day.

2) Read their blog posts.

This might seem obvious but how often do we see links shared on social media but fail to open the actual post? Your pageview could be that last one that book blogger needed to reach their traffic goal for the month.

3) Give them a shout out.

What better way to tell them how much you like them than to tell everyone else how much you like them? Whether it's in a blog post or on social media, giving your fellow book bloggers a shout out is sure to make them smile.

4) Use their affiliate links.

If your book blogging buddy uses affiliate links on their book blog use them when you plan to make a purchase. Every little helps.

5) Spread the word about their paid services/products

A lot of book bloggers offer services on their book blogs like sponsored posts, side bar ads, etc... Other have products for sale like books, planners, or other bookish merchandise. Help them get the word out by sharing with your followers.

6) Give them a testimonial.

You saying you're good is one thing. Other people saying you're good is another. Give your book blogger pals a gift this Christmas and send them a testimonial about why they are such a good book blogger/why you love their book blog. These can be great for them to use in media kits when they're trying to find sponsors.

I recently started a new series of posts on my Twitter asking a question of the day. The idea behind it is to get chatting more about book blogging and everything involved with being a book blogger.

I'll be showcasing answers to the questions in a series of blog posts here on www.JoLinsdell.com so we can develop the conversation even more and go into more detail.

Which blogging platform do you use and why?

A topic that comes up a lot among book bloggers is which blogging platform to use. I recently did a blog post Blogger VS Wordpress: The Pros and Cons to do a comparison of the two main free platforms.

I wanted to reach out and see what fellow book bloggers in my community were using though to delve a little deeper into why they choose the platform they did for their own book blog.

What the Book Blogging Community had to say:

Wordpress - I think the interface on the back end is so useful. You just need to be aware of storage and think about it (don't use a big image if you're going to resize it to small anyway etc) @SifaPoulton

Blogger. I wish I had Wordpress though. But when I started it in 2011 the person who helped me was only familiar with Blogger/Blogspot and I didn’t know zilch.@NadanessSobhi

Wordpress. When I started blogging in 2014 I did a good research on which platform to use and I liked WP the most as it seemed to have plenty of options and customizations and plugins. @Mehsi_Hime

Blogger. I claimed my blog name way waaaaaay back but didn't start blogging until 2011. It's the only platform I knew about. There are so many options now! @AVoraciousReadr

I use Wordpress ….Many blogs I first followed used WP. I don’t think I knew there were other options! @ReadingLadiesBC

WordPress. I use the free one and it's easy to use for a tech dino like me. Keep an eye on storage though - just spent hours clearing media. @cats_herding

Have been with WordPress since starting the blog nine years ago. I dabbled with Blogger for a different site first but didn’t care for it. @BookerTalk

I started with Blogger, but free WP was so much easier. I now have my own paid domain with WP for no ads etc. @gaskella

How Often Do Book Bloggers Post?

When it comes to posting to my blog I aim for three times a week; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This is the quantity I've found generally works best for me and my lifestyle/commitments.

That's not to say I don't occasionally post more or less often some weeks.

I try to schedule posts in advance as life can sometimes (make that often) throws a curve ball and things start to get out of control. I find that if I have at least the majority of upcoming posts scheduled it keeps me organised so I don't miss days, and it helps take the stress out of blogging too. No last minute panics.

Over the years I've changed my posting schedule several times. In the past I felt like I had to put out new content on a daily basis and, whilst this is awesome if you can, I've found for me it's more important to post consistently than it is to post frequently.

I try to aim for twice a week! However, this can vary greatly obviously due to a number of factors. Life can get in the way sometimes, other times I have been far too busy reading, but not enough writing . Sometimes it can be more, particularly if I am involved with tours etc. @FantasyBookNerd

I used to post every other day, at least until I ran out of content. now it's when I finish a book, or feel guilty enough to post @brumnordie

I usually post 3 times a week. (4 times is a great week for me, 5 times is a pace I can’t keep up)
