The Interview

Book Blogger Interview: Eric from Breakeven Books

1. What made you want to join Booktube?

I saw Raegan from Peruse Project's videos because my boyfriend watched her and I thought that it looked like a lot of fun to make content about books you love and just push it out into the world in video format. I also thought it would be an easier way to do book reviews (it took some practice getting used too)

2. How long have you been a booktuber?

I have been on booktube for almost 3 years now!

3. How often do you upload new video content to your channel?

I upload new videos every Monday and Thursday at 12:30pm EST.

4. Where do you connect most with other booktubers outside of YouTube?

Outside of youtube, I connect a lot on Twitter and Instagram. They are the other platforms that I can't seem to get myself off of unless I get absorbed in a good book!

5. What are your goals for your channel?

My goals for my channel are to get to 5000 subscribers by the end of the year and make another original book tag! I already created one called Barking Bout Books tag and I made a readathon in December called the Reindeer Readathon!

6. Give your top 3 tips for Booktube success

I would say to upload consistently, find a thumbnail look that you like, and stay with it so it brings familiarity to your subscribers and comment on other's videos. Nothing helps you grow better than the community itself and if you integrate yourself into it, it will help a lot!

7. What's the hardest part of being a booktuber?

Editing! I don't mind the filming part but for some reason, editing just takes a long time for me. Sometimes I enjoy it but a lot of the time, it is just a drain. It could be that I procrastinate though and usually edit my videos the night before.

8. What's your favourite book you've read so far this year?

My favorite book I have read so far this year is probably Legendborn by Tracy Deonn!

9. Who are some of the booktubers you watch regularly?
I love to watch Hilary from , Connor from , Taylor from , Ry from , Hannah from ... there is just so many but that is a few off the top of my head!
10. What is your most viewed video on your channel?

My top viewed video is my "Top 5 Science Fiction Books/Series I have Read So Far".

I hope you've enjoyed getting to know Eric better and encourage you to subscribe to his booktube channel.

FYI You can subscribe to my booktube channel too 😉

  2. Fabulous interview. I'm fairly low-tech, so I can't imagine what goes into editing a video. All the respect.

    1. Hi Sadie 😊 Editing is something I personally limit as much as possible. I'm definitely not the sort of BookTuber who spends hours editing my videos. I do admire those that do though. It can make for some truly great content.

  3. Lovely interview. Great answers. I love books, I've been blogging for years but I just can't get into Booktube. I'm sorry to both of you. But then I rarely use Youtube, as videos don't interest me that much unless they are showing me how to do something or fix something.

  4. I admire both of you for stamina and courage, I wouldn't have the nerve or knowledge of where to begin with booktubing.

  5. Fantastic interview! I think editing would definitely be hard for me, as well. Though, I'm not great in front of the camera so that's a challenge.
