I started in July 2013.
2. What are your favourite genres to read?
Historical fiction. Fantasy/science fiction. Magical realism. I have liked murder mysteries for at least 20 years. Paranormal romance is a newer favorite of mine.
3. Best book you've read so far this year?
4. What social media sites do you use most to spread the word about your blog posts/to network with the book blogging community?
Pinterest and Twitter.
5. What do you wish you'd known about book blogging before you started?
I used to post multiple posts a day. I guess I had a lot of time on my hands. If I had been more aware, I would have scheduled only one post a day.
As far as the book blogging part, I wish I had been more aware of how long it actually takes me to read a book - plus write the post- plus all of the social media things. I have streamlined my system as much as possible but it used to take up so much time. It still takes quite a bit of effort.
6. What is the hardest part of being a book blogger?
It varies. Sometimes if you are reading a book that you don't like, it is hard to give an honest review without making the author cry. So the point is to be honest without being horribly mean. It can be tricky.
Occasionally, I fall asleep reading and drop the Kindle on my boyfriend's face. Also a tricky situation.
7. What are your goals for your book blog? Do you have any plans for your blog in the future?
The main goal has always been to keep it interesting. I write about new subjects occasionally to test the water. If I'm bored, the readers will be bored. So I'm thinking about what is next. Brainstorming but no specific future plans yet.
Hopefully, I can do a few bucket list or book bucket list posts this summer. Last summer was a very difficult time to complete any bucket list goals. I did read a lot so there's one positive thing about quarantine.
8. How often do you post to your blog?
I usually post one post a day, every day. Once in awhile, I miss a day but life happens. It took me a couple of years to be forgiving of myself for missing a day. I just keep writing and planning. Miss a day but hopefully come back a bit refreshed. :)
9. What's your most popular blog post?
2021: So far the most popular is "Bad Habits."
In 2019, the most popular was "The Midnight Queen."
10. What are you currently reading and why did you choose to read it?
I am reading "The Speed of Light" by Elissa Grossell Dickey. I thought that reading about two different timelines of the same person was interesting. So far it is showing how the main character became who they are now. Who will they end up being?

I love this! What a great way to get to know the book blogging community :) Are you choosing book bloggers to interview or accepting ones who might want to be interviewed (wink). Great interview!
ReplyDeleteThanks Megan 😊 I thought it would be a fun way to eat to know other book bloggers better and Maybe pick up some tips from their experience. Happy to interview you any time 💖

ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh so hard. My husband complains if I read in bed, just in case. (Which is fine, I'd rather curl up on the couch, but still.) LOL
I laughed hard at that part too 🤣
Deletelol. I'm trying to do it less by not facing that direction with the kindle. Major oops. It's a surprise for everyone.
ReplyDeleteThanks for introducing me to a new blogger. I agree that sometimes reading a book can be hard, especially if it has been sent by the author who you like and yet you are struggling with their book.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really great interview series. I enjoy reading it.
