A Guide to the Trevi Fountain and the Vicus Caprarius

When in the centre of Rome there are a few landmarks that you just have to visit. The Trevi Fountain is one of them.

Whilst the Trevi Fountain is well known and visited by most tourists who travel to Rome, few people know about the underground water city that is located underneath called Vicus Caprarius.

You'll need to book your visit to Vicus Caprarius in advance but it's definitely worth it.

The Trevi Fountain is one of my favourite places to visit when I go to the centre of Rome. Although often full of crowds, it's the perfect place to sit and relax in the sunshine.

Vicus Caprarius – the City of Water, Rome, Italy

I can't believe it took me so long to discover this place! Although it's small, it's well worth a visit if you get the chance.

A stones throw from the Trevi fountain, this underground site is a real treat. A great way to escape the summer heat for a while too as it's nice and fresh down there.

I'm always amazed when I visit parts of the ancient city under the modern city of Rome. It really makes you look at the modern Rome in a different way afterwards when you think about all that is hidden underneath.
