The book synopsis for The Hopeless Romantics Guide To Avoiding Love by Jolie Harris

The Hopeless Romantics Guide To Avoiding Love by Jolie Harris book cover
Love. It’s a fantasy—and she’s determined to give it up. But one more sexy fling won’t hurt… will it?

From weekends spent devouring steamy romance novels to her day job planning other people’s dream weddings, Sylvie Hanson lives for love. That all changes when her comically disastrous love life goes up in flames, forcing Sylvie to swear off lustful impulses and fairytale romance for good. So when Woods Callahan, the man of her literal dreams, seduces her at a wedding, she should chalk it up to nothing but sexual tension. Right?

After a few steamy hookups and a trip to his family’s lavish estate, Sylvie can’t help but fall fast and hard in love—hey, maybe things will work out for her this time! That is, until she finds out Woods is moving away in a matter of weeks, which will mean mending her broken heart once again.

Should Sylvie leave behind her hopeless romantic ideals and resist the irresistible Woods Callahan, or is their incredible physical connection worth one last sex-filled love affair?

Ways to Spring Clean Your Book Blog

If you've been here before you'll know that over the years I've hosted several blog audit challenges. The idea behind them is to improve our blogs by taking on different tasks each month so that it's more doable and less overwhelming.

This year I'm not doing an official blog audit but I do still want to work on updating and improving my blog. That's why this year I'm going to be doing a big digital Spring clean.

That's right, just like your home can get messy and cluttered so can your blog. A thorough clean out helps make sure it stays looking fresh and makes your blog better in the long term.

As always, I figured I'd share the process with you all in case anyone else wants to join in and do their own Spring clean.

How to Spring Clean Your Blog

Freshen Up Your Homepage

Now is a good time to take a look at your homepage and make sure it still reflects you and your brand. Consider things like your navigation bar, featured posts, colour scheme and blog theme.

Update Your Profile Photo

How long has it been since you updated your profile photo? Does it even look like you anymore? If not a new pic could be a good idea.

Clean Up Your Sidebar and Footer

The sidebar and footer are areas that can get cluttered easily. Take a look at what's there and make sure you get rid of anything that doesn't need to be.

Less clutter will also mean your site loads faster which is an added bonus both in terms of user experience and from an SEO point of view.

Check Your Social Media Links

Make sure your links are all still relevant and working. Need to add new ones or maybe a delete some you no longer use?

Refresh Your About Page

Your about page is one of the most important pages on your blog and should be regularly updated. It tells your reader what your blog is about and who it is for.

Make sure you check any dates e.g. information like how long you've been blogging for.

Clean Up Your Comments

The comments section can get overwhelming. Now it the perfect time to empty your spam folder and go through your comment backlog to approve, reply to, or delete comments.

Update or Delete Old Posts

Take a look at older posts, particularly the ones that don't get much or any traffic, and see if they can be updated and improved. If not delete them. Poor quality content hurts your SEO.

Check for Broken Links

Search engines like Google hate broken links as see them as a sign of a neglected site. This can therefore damage your SEO.

Find any broken links on your blog and either fix them or delete them.

Update Your Media Kit

Don't have a media kit or not sure what to include in one? Check out What is a media kit and why do you need one?

If you want to work with sponsors it's a good idea to make sure your media kit is up to date, especially things like your stats and contact info.

Will you be doing a Spring clean on your blog this year? What tasks do you want to concentrate on? How often do you audit your book blog?

Book synopsis for Bloodlaced by Courtney Maguire

Bloodlaced by Courtney Maguire book cover

Kanjin hardly view their servants as human. Even less so when they are different.

Asagi is different. Both a man and a woman.

In the wake of his failure to protect a boy they saw as a son from their abusive master, Asagi is sold into the house of a young nobleman, Mahiro, who is the opposite of everything Asagi has ever known—gentle, kind, and generous.

Mahiro bonds with Asagi and their friendship blooms into a deep and profound love. But when Asagi is poisoned out of jealousy, Mahiro reveals himself to be youkai, a demon who feeds on blood, and he has no choice but to turn Asagi to save their life.

Asagi awakes reborn, strong, and eternally youthful. But the price for Asagi’s new life is high.

The blood of the innocent.

Just as Asagi’s trust in Mahiro falters, the boy they failed to protect, now a man, reappears.

New master, same threat.

With both a literal and proverbial monster at the door, Asagi must decide what it means to be human to protect what they loves most.

Content Warnings: physical abuse, sexual abuse (off-page), self-harm, blood, graphic violence

If you like Bella Forrest, P. C. Cast, AJ Tipton, or Anne Rice, you will love this beautiful dark paranormal fantasy romance.

Book synopsis for Lesser Known Monsters by Rory Michaelson

Lesser Known Monsters by Rory Michaelson book cover

Being the chosen one isn’t always a good thing...

Oscar Tundale is not a hero. Anxious, indecisive, and awkward, he can barely get through a normal day. Now he’s about to find out monsters are real. Oscar’s friends: brave, stubborn Zara, and hyperactive, paranoid Marcus, might help discover what hunts him, and unravel the truth about the handsome doctor he pines for. But only heroes can save the world, so maybe the best Oscar can hope for is to not end it by accident.

The LESSER KNOWN MONSTERS series is a dark queer fantasy featuring diverse characters on a found family adventure. Perfect for fans of horror and paranormal romance who seek LGBTQ+ heroes.
