CampNaNoWriMo Week 3

#CampNaNoWriMo Week 3 #WIP #AmEditing

Time for another check in.

Again life seems to be plotting against me and this challenge. This past week threw a lot of hurdles at me. Between my hospital appointments, a relative dying, my kids various sports training, and then my kids various accidents, this past week has been quite the roller-coaster.

On a more positive note my stitches are healing nicely and the stitches should be gone in about 20 days time (I can't wait!). So glad to be putting this episode behind me. Will be going back for another breast scan in about 5 months time to check on the other cysts they found and make sure they are behaving themselves. For all my girl buddies reading this please make sure you check/get checked regularly. It's so important.

Most of the spare time I've managed to grab this week has been spent on preparations for the upcoming Promo Day event on Saturday 5th May. Needless to say, this week's progress report isn't the good news I was hoping to share with you.

#CampNaNoWriMo Week 2

Sorry for my absence. I had an operation on Wednesday last week and so a lot of stuff got put on hold. Happy to report the operation went well, and the stitches are healing nicely.

Of course, it didn't stop me in my tracks completely. My kids both got picked for the swimming team, and so it was full speed ahead with training, and then on Sunday they had their first big competition. With both of them doing individuals and replays it was quite a long day. So proud of them. They did a great job, especially considering how late notice it was. They didn't even know how replays worked until the night before the races. Anyway, I digress...

Today's post is my (delayed) progress report of week 2 of CampNaNoWriMo. I'm not going to lie to you... it's not pretty. We're now over half way through the challenge and I'm way behind schedule. On the upside, I still have time to make a come back and hit my goal.

Goodreads Monday: The Ugly Stepsister Strikes Back by Sariah Wilson

Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme hosted by Lauren’s Page Turners. To take part, you simply choose a random book from your TBR and show it off. Don’t forget to check out Lauren’s Goodreads Monday blog post to share your Monday selections.

This week I picked The Ugly Stepsister Strikes Back by Sariah Wilson. I loved Royal Games by Sariah Wilson and so have high hopes for this one too.

Goodreads Monday: The Ugly Stepsister Strikes Back by Sariah Wilson
Everyone knows how those fairy tales go. The princess gets beautiful, nabs her prince and leaves her evil stepsisters in the dust.

But what happens when you’re the ugly stepsister and your obnoxiously perfect—pretty, smart, and, worst of all, nice—stepsister is dating the charming, devastatingly handsome guy you’ve had a thing for since you were nine?

Quirky, artistic and snarky Mattie Lowe does not lead a charmed life. Her mother is constantly belittling her online. The school mean girl has made it her mission to torment Mattie. But worst of all? Her stepsister is the most popular girl in school and is dating Mattie’s secret crush, Jake Kingston.

Tired of being left out and done with waiting for her own fairy godmother to show up, Mattie decides to change her life. She’ll start by running for senior class president against Jake.

Ella can keep her Prince Annoying. Mattie's going to rule the school.

And no one, not even a cute and suddenly flirty Jake, is going to stop her.

#CampNaNoWriMo Week 1 #AmEditing

It's now the end of the first week of CampNaNoWriMo and so time for a progress report.

The goal: To edit Do You LIKE Me?

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

Here's this week's postcard with a quick summary of how things went:

#CampNaNoWriMo Week 1 #AmEditing

Starting a challenge when the kids are off on Easter break doesn't end in the best results. That said, I'm making up for lost time. I might even manage another session before bed tonight and so could actually manage to get back on schedule.

My manuscript currently stands at 240 pages which means I need to edit 8 pages worth a day in order to meet my goal of editing the whole thing by the end of the month. As you can see, I managed 46 pages so far. Not brilliant but also not bad considering I didn't start until this weekend.

The part I'm most excited about so far is getting back in touch with these characters. I'd forgotten how much I love them. I've been sat on this novel for far too long and it's a good sign that I'm excited about it again as I read back over it. A good indication that the idea was a good one ;)

I wrote the first draft during the November NaNoWriMo challenge (and yes, I did win with over 50K in 30 days :)). As you might expect, there is a fair bit of editing needed. Minus the typos, I'm actually quite pleased with it though. No major cringe moments yet.

Are you doing CampNaNoWriMo too this month? What's your goal?

#CampNaNoWriMo April 2018 #AmWriting #AmEditing

Ready to go camping? Well, by camping I mean NaNoWriMo camping. It's that time of year again and I'm all signed up for a month of writing fun. Actually to be more exact, a month of editing fun.

I decided to use this month long challenge to edit my novel Do You LIKE Me? Hopefully it will give me that much needed kick in the butt to finally finish this book. That's the plan at least.

The plan:

The manuscript is currently 240 pages long. This means that if I edit 8 pages a day, by the end of the 30 days I should have a fully edited novel.

I'll be reporting back every Sunday to send you a postcard from CampNaNoWriMo and fill you in on my progress.

#CampNaNoWriMo April 2018 #AmWriting #AmEditing

Are you taking part in CampNaNoWriMo this month? What's your goal for the challenge?
