2021 Challenges: July Update

July was a tough month for me. My health problems got really bad and I ended up being sent for emergency recovery at the hospital. The problems are still on-going and I have more tests and medical visits still to do.
Needless to say, I didn't manage to be very productive with my challenges.
I am super happy that I had already scheduled most of my blog posts in advance so I only missed out on posting a few. Unfortunately it did mean I had to skip the celebrations I was hoping to do for my book birthday of Out and About at the Zoo which was published on 19th July 2012.
In a surprising turn of events I did hit a new personal best for views to this site though... a whopping 44,880! My previous PB was last month with 32,247. That's an amazing increase! Again, so happy I scheduled posts in advance.
The Blog Audit Challenge 2021
The July Challenges were focused on content promotion. I didn't actually end up doing too badly with these tasks as some I already had in place. I did still manage to share my content via my social media channels as I could easily do it from my phone. Having social share buttons already set up on my site really helped, as did making sure every post had images.
I didn't manage to work on the outreach part of the tasks though. I'll get to that once my health is back under control.
The Social Media Audit Challenge
For this challenge I'm concentrating on social media. The July focus was on Twitter. You can find the July Twitter challenges here.
Again, I had the advantage of already having some of the tasks in place. My Twitter feed is embedded on my media page, I have a button for folowwing my on Twitter in my sidebar and social share buttons on every page that includes a Twitter button.
For the engagement part of the tasks at the beginning of the month I had started to get organised to host a weekly Twitter chat for book bloggers. Then my health got worse and I had to put it on hold. I do still plan to create the chat though and look forward to getting to know even more book bloggers. So for now it's on hold but it will definitely be happening, hopefully, in the near future.

My June Update
This post may contain affiliate links. Meaning, I get a commission if you purchase through my links, at no cost to you. Read the fulldisclosure here.
Despite being ill for a large part of June it was actually a really successful month.
My eldest passed his middle school exams and collected his qualification (proud mummy moment!) and so that was a huge milestone this month.
At the beginning of the month I had set myself some goals that I wanted to achieve.
1. To set a new PB for view to my blog.
In May I reached a new PB of 32089 view in the one month. I wanted to see if I could do even better... and I did! In June I reached 32247 views 🥳🥳
I've been doing YouTube, or more specifically BookTube, for years but never really took it seriously until recently. My big goal is to reach 1000 subscribers by the end of the year and so I needed to reach 500 by the end of June to be on track... and I did! My current total is 502 🥳🥳
Needless to say, I'm thrilled with the results.
For those of you that prefer, here's my video update for June:
Where I was featured in June
I'm continuing to work on my external links (the Blog Audit Challenge focus for May).
I would love to do more of these so if you want to host me on your book blog please get in touch.
The Blog Audit Challenge 2021
The June Challenges were focused on SEO. This is one of my favourite topics and so I'm constantly going through older posts and updating them to improve SEO.
As I've been blogging for so long this is an ongoing task. I have made more progress with it over June though.
The Social Media Audit Challenge
For this challenge I'm concentrating on social media. For the June challenges the focus was on Facebook.
I've been making more effort with my Facebook page and making sure I schedule some content to post throughout the week.
I have noticed that my distribution score has increase on recent posts. I also noticed that the posts where I included a graphic showing a quote to accompany the post tended to do better in terms of number of people reached and distribution score. I definitely need to work more on this area though. I will be continuing to experiment with content types on my Facebook page and also plan to try posting at different times of the day too to see what effect it has.
I decided to stray from the number order this month as I really wanted to read Girl, 11. I'm so glad I did as it turned out to be an awesome 5 star read.

2021 Challenges: May Update
This post may contain affiliate links. Meaning, I get a commission if you purchase through my links, at no cost to you. Read the fulldisclosure here.
May was a hectic month (when is life not hectic?) as we're in full exam prep mode here. Life has been and still is super busy with end of year school stuff. The 8th June was the last day of the school year here. Then later this month my eldest has his exams 😬 After that we're on school holidays until mid-September. Yep, 3 months of summer break!
Although I didn't make huge progress with my challenges I'm super happy about how they are progressing so far. I'm also still on course to complete them all by the end of the year.
If you prefer video format you can watch my May wrap up video:
The Blog Audit Challenge 2021
The May Challenges were focused on external links. I did quite well with this and got hosted on three sites in a variety of posts:
I would love to do more of these so if you want to host me on your book blog please get in touch.
The Social Media Audit Challenge
For this challenge I'm concentrating on social media. The May focus was on measuring results.
I'm really pleased with how my challenge is going so far. In May I hit a new personal best for views to this blog reaching 32,089 in the one month 🥳 My previous PB was 30,189.
I've also seen an increase in followers on my social media accounts this year and more engagement too. So, needless to say, I'm super happy with my results so far.

2021 Challenges: April Update

April was another month of high's and low's as far as my challenges were concerned.
The Blog Audit Challenge 2021
The April Challenges were focused on internal links. This is something I'm constantly working on, and so I'm happy to report that I'm making good progress with making sure all my blog posts have internal links included in them.
The Social Media Audit Challenge
For this challenge I'm concentrating on social media. The April focus was on quality. I did some brainstorming to come up with new ideas for the sorts of content I want to share on my social media and how I can make sure it's branded and giving the right message about me and my brand.

2021 Challenges: March Update
This post may contain affiliate links. Meaning, I get a commission if you purchase through my links, at no cost to you. Read the fulldisclosure here.
March got off to a good start but then Lazio became a red zone again and so we went back into lockdown and the kids back to online learning. The teacher of my youngest found out she was positive for Covid and so we were put into isolation for 10 days and couldn't leave our apartment at all during that time. Luckily my son tested negative.
Anyway, all this meant that I didn't have access to my computer much (youngest needed it to log in for his school lessons), and I didn't get hardly any alone time to relax and enjoy reading in peace.
Despite all this, March wasn't a bad month in terms of my challenges...
I'd love to know if you agree and what adjectives you think would be best to describe me so please leave a comment below to let me know.
2. Perfect your look
Task 1 - Make sure your blog design fits your brand.
I did a redesign of my blog layout during March and I'm now much happier with the overall feel of the site. I think it better suits my brand.
Task 2 - Make sure your blog graphics match your brand.
I personally use Canva for creating my blog graphics. It makes it super easy to be consistent in my branding across a wide range of formats. Having the templates set up is also a great time saver.
The Social Media Audit Challenge
For this challenge I'm concentrating on social media. The March focus was on consistency.
Task 1:
I've been working on scheduling posts for some of my social media profiles in advance to make sure I have content going out on a more regular basis. For example, I've scheduled posts for my Facebook page and Instagram. I've also started recording video content in advance for my YouTube channel and scheduling it to post every Tuesday to my channel.
I've mapped out an editorial calendar for the next couple of months.
I've though a lot about the types of content I want to share and the CTA's I will attach to each post.
All images are on brand.
Task 2:
I've checked all my profiles to make sure branding is consistent across all my social media profiles.
