How Much To Charge for a Sponsored Post

If you are a professional blogger and plan on making money from your blog you're probably curious about how much to charge for sponsored content. As I hope to turn this blog into a full-time income, this is a topic I'm particularly interested in myself.

Finding out what industry average rates are for sponsored content on blogs isn't easy though. A lot of bloggers don't post their rates directly on their site.

Nobody seems to really talk about the topic of rates either. It's a bit of a taboo topic which is strange considering how many bloggers want to monetise their blogs.

The lack of knowledge about going rates for sponsored content makes it hard for bloggers to set their own rates and they often end up undervaluing themselves.

My hope for this post is to offer some transparency regarding prices for sponsored content on blogs and encourage more discussion on the topic.

Blogger Feedback About Sponsored Content

I decided to do some research into how much bloggers charge for sponsored content by setting up some polls via my Twitter profile

Only a small number of people replied, the majority of which are book bloggers so I definitely need to do more research into the topic of rates for sponsored content.

These are the results:

Do you post sponsored content on your blog?

20% said yes. 80% said no. My guess is that this is mainly based on the book blogging niche as most who answered have book blogs.

What do you think is important when setting your rates?

What do you think is important when setting your rates

I found this one particularly interesting. 0% said DA Score but 50% opted for all of the above. Engagement is an important factor with 37.5%. Pageviews are also considered important with 12.5%.

I personally would have chosen all of the above as my own answer to this question.

How much do you earn from sponsored content on average each month?

100% answered less than €100. Again this probably has a lot to do with niche. I hope this isn't the average amongst all bloggers.

How much do you charge for link insertion?

100% said less than €50.

How much do you charge for a guest post?

100% said €50-€100.

How much do you charge for a sponsored post written by you?

100% said less than €150.

Do you think there should be more transparency about how much bloggers charge for sponsored content?

100% said yes, it would be helpful.

Overall I think bloggers are undervaluing themselves with their pricing. I think a big reason for that is the lack of transparency on the topic of rates. If information about the going rates depending on DA Score, pageviews, engagement, etc... was made more readily available I think it would help bloggers offer more competitive pricing and help them realise their worth.

My poll obviously gave limited insight and so I did some more research into what bloggers are charging for sponsored content to try and get a better idea of the going rates for the different types of sponsored content being offered.

More Information About Working With Sponsors:
