Today I'm sharing my review for Sparks of Light by Janet B Taylor.
About the book:
“The perfect blend of mystery, sci-fi, action, cute guys, romance, history and gorgeous Scotland.” —Justine magazine on Into the Dim
For the first time in her life, Hope Walton has friends . . . and a (maybe) boyfriend. She’s a Viator, a member of a long line of time-traveling ancestors. When the Viators learn of a plan to steal a dangerous device from the inventor Nikola Tesla, only a race into the past can save the natural timeline from utter destruction. Navigating the glitterati of The Gilded Age in 1895 New York City, Hope and her crew will discover that high society can be as deadly as it is beautiful.
In this sequel to the dazzling time-travel romance Into the Dim, sacrifice takes on a whole new meaning as Hope and Bran struggle to determine where—or when--they truly belong.

About the book:
After Trina’s beloved dog dies, she swears she’ll never get another one. But then she learns about service dogs, and realizes that if she becomes a puppy raiser, she could train puppy after puppy and never worry about them dying. But like all great ideas, this one has a serious flaw: her first service puppy must be returned to his kennel at the end of their week-long summer vacation. And saying goodbye to Sydney is going to be much tougher than she ever imagined.
Trina’s last week with Sydney is made that much harder by her newly strained friendship with her best friend, Sarah, who’s become so over-the-top boy crazy that she’s almost like a stranger. Sarah is determined to have them hang out with every boy at the beach, but when a boy named Chase takes an interest in Sydney and Trina, it puts an even bigger strain on the friendship.
It’s hard enough to deal with loosing Sydney, but now she may lose her best friend, too. And even if she manages to patch things up with Sarah—and figures out what to do about Chase—she still must face a daunting decision: is she strong enough to take on another service puppy?

Tell us about your latest book
KOSMOS is a serial fiction of 12 episodes. A new episode of this time travel adventure will be published on the 1st of each month. My latest release is Gladiator which is episode three in the series. In this book the main character, Matt, finds himself in ancient Rome during the inaugural games for the Coliseum. Mistaken for a young gladiator, he fights to stay alive whilst searching for a way back home.
What made you pick this location?
I live in Rome so it just seemed natural to have one of the books in the series based here. When I'm surrounded by so much history every day it would be a shame not to use it. One of the first jobs I did when I moved here was a tour guide for the Coliseum. It's one of my favourite places here in Rome.
As the KOSMOS series was written for my nine year old son I also wanted to make sure it had things that would grab his interest. Featuring a place he knows well, but with a twist, did the trick. He loved imagining what it would have been like all those years ago with the gladiators.
Who
is your favourite character in your book and why?
I love the character of Alexia. She's a real force of nature. I wanted her to be strong, and really kick-ass. She says what she thinks too. She's basically an anti-Princess type of character.
