This weeks quick tip is to add subscribe options to your blog. Having people subscribe to your blog is a great alternative if you don't have the time to put together a separate newsletter. It helps keep you in touch with your fans and makes is easy for them to keep up with your projects and news. Offering several different subscription options is a good idea as it means readers can choose how they want to follow your content e.g. via email or via a url feeder.

What subscription options do you offer on your blog?

Just a few of the wonderful reviews received for Out and About at the Zoo.

 Great for the Grandkids!
By Jan Verhoeff
This is a fun, short book for the grandkids! If you love reading to your children or grandchildren, this book will become a family favorite quite fast. The simple wording and bright interaction of characters makes it easy for very young readers and exciting for toddlers still listening.

Jo puts some serious thought into toddler reactions and includes those in the book. My favorite part was the last page, because my toddlers decided immediately that we needed to take a trip to the Denver Zoo. "Yay!!! I get to see the elephants!" (Okay, that part was ME not them. But they get to go too.)

 Wonderful Book for Kids!
By Victoria Marshal
As a mom I can tell you there is no better compliment to a children's book than to have your child say, "read it again" when you finish reading a book. This is exactly what happened when I finished reading Out and About at the Zoo to my 3-year-old.

The story is a short one and I'm sure from the title you can guess what it's about. My little one couldn't get enough of the friendly, illustrated animals that inhabit Ms. Linsdell's zoo. Unlike some illustrated children s books that look like they're trying to win a modern art prize; Ms. Linsdell's illustrations are very approachable for children. The story is uncomplicated, which makes it easy for younger readers to follow along.

Overall, Out and About at the Zoo is a fun read for kids, which makes it priceless for this mom. ~V

Its all Happening at the Zoo
By Bennet Pomerantz VINE VOICE
I review many books. When I see a children's picture book, I tend to savor the artistic way the writer and the artist tend to mesh. Sometimes its the blending that makes a simple child's book something really worth reading.

Out and About at the Zoo is a combination of the artist and the writer being the same person Jo Linsdell. She crafted a very cute and adorable children's volume. This simple children's book with bright colors of animals from the zoo is crisp in it poetic delivery. The art sparkles in its simple characters of the zoo animals.

Ms Linsdell seems to know her target audience and gives them a bright a images for them to enjoy. These young children will delight in this books rhythms that come from its verses and art. It is a good book to give for those young and young at heart.

 Wonderful

My children at school loved the book. The pictures are beautiful, full of wonderful colors and the Pre K children found them intriging.

 Delightful read
By Margaret C. Arvanitis
As a early childhood educator I find this book exactly what I like to read to my preschoolers. Colorful, well illustrated and attention keeping. A "read it again" story. I'll be sending copies to my great grands for Christmas.

 A two-year old's review
By PeteAbela
I enlisted some help from my daughter who turns three next month to write this review.

After reading "Out and About at the Zoo," to her, I asked if she liked the book. Her response: "I YOVE it." (she can't pronounce "L's" very well yet but you get the drift).

My daughter summed up everything you need to know and there's not much more to add to her comment. Jo's book is fun with cleverly rhyming text and is brightly illustrated. Your littlies will love "Out and About at the Zoo."

Out and About at the Zoo is available to buy in both kindle and print formats.

If you've read the book please take a moment to post a quick review of your own. I love reading your feedback :)

My Review:

Princess Nevaeh
Princess Nevaeh by Paulette Harper

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Nevaeh is a little girl who wants to be a Princess. Her Grandmother "Mimi" tells her the things she needs to do and the things she shouldn't in order to be a Princess. Over all the story gives a positive message about being nice to others, and that beauty is something that comes from the inside and not just something seen on outside. This book would therefore be a good tool for talking about bullying.

There was a part of the story that I didn't like though, which is where it says to do what adults tell you. Whilst I liked the message of obeying rules set by parents and teachers the general "adults" part would have been best avoided. Unfortunately not ALL adults can be trusted. Other than that though, it gave good pointers for being nice and respectful towards others.

I liked that the Grandmother tells Nevaeh she has been, and always will be, her little Princess at the end.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This weeks quick tip is to use lists to organise social media flow. Newsfeeds can leave you feeling overwhelmed which is why lists are such a good idea. By using the lists feature on sites like Twitter and Facebook you can organise your newsfeed by category, allowing you to see just the posts from the people you want to see.

Avid readers, influencers, industry news, publishers, agents, fellow writers... you can set up lists to suit your needs.

Do you use lists?

I'm running a photo contest on my Facebook page and want to invite you all to take part. It's super easy to enter (you just post a photo showing what you can create with a cardboard box), and the photo with the most votes wins kindle copies of all 3 of my best selling children's picture story books.

Please share about the contest with your friends so they can post their own photo's, and vote to help select the winner.

This weeks quick tip is to schedule social media posts in advance. Whilst you still want to make sure you log in to engage with followers and join in conversations, having a few posts scheduled in advance is a good idea. it gives you a safety net for unexpected things like sick days, unplanned visitors, etc... and also helps with time management. You can schedule some posts at the beginning of the week and then concentrate on writing knowing you still have a constant presence online.

Do you schedule posts in advance? What is your favourite scheduling tool? Leave your 2 cents below as I'd love to hear from you.

Today I'm sharing a reading of my children's picture story book The Box as part of the Read Me a Story Blog Hop on the Writers and Authors site. I hope you enjoy it.

I also wanted to take the opportunity to let you know that I'll be running a photo contest via my Facebook page in a few days time where you can win a kindle copy of The Box. To enter the contest you just need to post a photo to my page showing what you can do with a box. Can't wait to see kids and grown ups having some creative fun with this one :)

If you can't wait to get your hands on a copy of The Box, you can get a copy here:

This weeks quick tip is to add social share buttons to your blog.

I'm always surprised when I come across a blog that doesn't have them. The easier you make it for people to share your content, the more likely they are to share it.

If you don't have social share buttons on your blog yet, go add them now :)
