I've missed you - you look lovely!
ReplyDeleteAww thanks. Had an evil flu that had me in bed for a couple of weeks. Feels good to be back to normal again.
DeleteI really enjoyed your review. The book sounds like a good read, but I'm not sure I'd be able handle the cruelty.
ReplyDeleteThe torture parts are only brief but they do hit home pretty hard. Brief but intense.
DeleteLove your review. The book sounds good. I may check it out as I have so many books but so little time.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I'm constantly adding more books to my TBR even though I know it will take me forever to read them all. Time is always too little. I do want to check out the other books in this series now I've read this one though.
DeleteGreat review! I may have had to skim some of the more difficult parts.
ReplyDeleteSome scenes were quite hard to read due to what happened. From a purely historical point of view it was interesting though.
DeleteOh my, I leave books on my TBR forever too. Glad you finally read and loved it!
ReplyDeleteThis one is definitely a bit of a record for me in terms if time sat on my tbr. Glad to know I'm not the only one who does this.
DeleteThe book sounds good.
ReplyDeleteIt was. Made me want to learn more about Mayan culture and history too.
Deletesounds like such a cool read - one more for my TBR..
ReplyDeleteI want to read the rest of the series now too.
DeleteI'm not sure this would be a book for me. I enjoyed your review and you did well to handle all that cruelty.
ReplyDeleteIt was really just the dog scene and the very end that were tough reading. The rest was fine.
DeleteGreat review, this book looks and sounds very intriguing. Thank you so much for sharing your awesome post.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It was a bit different but good.
