On My Shelf

On My Shelf is a series to showcase some of the books that are sat on my shelves. Each Sunday I randomly pick a book from my shelves to show you. Some will be books that are on my TBR, others will be books I've read in the past but that deserve a little love.

This week's pick

On My Shelf: The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
The #1 New York Times bestselling debut novel that introduced Khaled Hosseini to millions of readers the world over.

The unforgettable, heartbreaking story of the unlikely friendship between a wealthy boy and the son of his father’s servant, caught in the tragic sweep of history, The Kite Runner transports readers to Afghanistan at a tense and crucial moment of change and destruction. A powerful story of friendship, it is also about the power of reading, the price of betrayal, an
d the possibility of redemption; and an exploration of the power of fathers over sons—their love, their sacrifices, their lies.

Since its publication in 2003 Kite Runner has become a beloved, one-of-a-kind classic of contemporary literature, touching millions of readers, and launching the career of one of America's most treasured writers.

  9. This book is the reason why I read everything Khaled Hosseini wrote. Granted, this was his first novel but it was amazing and his second book "A Thousand Splendid Suns" was equally amazing

  10. I've heard so many things about this book over the years but don't know if it's a book I'd enjoy. I want to read more books outside of my comfort zone so maybe this is one that fits the bill haha. Great article.

    1. It's good to step out of your comfort zone once in a while. I've read some great books over the years that I took a chance on (mainly because I won them or got sent a review copy) that turned out to be awesome reads that I would never of picked out.
