Reasons Why I love the Me Before You series:
Louisa has to make some big decisions as she goes through her journey of self discovery. It really made me think more about my own life and what I want to do.
Favourite characters:
Camilla Traynor- I loved seeing the different sides of her character as the series progressed. At first she came across as cold and uncaring but her real character comes out slowly as the story moves forward.
Some of My Favourite Quotes:
“You only get one life. It's actually your duty to live it as fully as possible.” - Me Before You
“Some mistakes... Just have greater consequences than others. But you don't have to let the result of one mistake be the thing that defines you. You, Clark, have the choice not to let that happen.”
- Me Before You
“I will never, ever regret the things I've done. Because most days, all you have are places in your memory that you can go to.”
- Me Before You
“You are scored on my heart,Clark. You were from the first day you walked in,with your ridiculous clothes and your complete inability to ever hide a single thing you felt.”
- Me Before You
“The thing about being catapulted into a whole new life--or at least, shoved up so hard against someone else's life that you might as well have your face pressed against their window--is that it forces you to rethink your idea of who you are. Or how you might seem to other people.” - Me Before You
“You learn to live with it, with them. Because they do stay with you, even if they’re not living, breathing people any more. It’s not the same crushing grief you felt at first, the kind that swamps you, and makes you want to cry in the wrong places, and get irrationally angry with all the idiots who are still alive when the person you love is dead. It’s just something you learn to accommodate. Like adapting around a hole. I don’t know. It’s like you become … a doughnut instead of a bun” - After You
“Books are what teach you about life. Books teach you empathy. But you can’t buy books if you barely got enough to make rent. So that library is a vital resource! You shut a library, Louisa, you don’t just shut down a building, you shut down hope.” - Still Me
“There is a great consolation in simply doing something you love.” - Still Me
“Know first who you are and then adore yourself accordingly.” - Still Me

I have yet to read a single Jojo Moyles book! I keep meaning to but get sidetracked with other books or series. I have read a ton of good reviews for her books so I really need get in gear and join the bandwagon :)
ReplyDeleteI loved this series. I can't wait to read some of her other books. I've seen good reviews for those too.
DeleteI've only read the first book in the series and it was so emotional! Don't know if I had handle the rest of the series!
ReplyDeleteYeah, this series has all the feels. It's worth it though.
DeleteI haven't read any of these yet, but I need to!
ReplyDeleteYes you do! Just make sure you have a box of tissues handy ;)
DeleteI never seem to get approved for her stuff on netgallery - waaaaa
ReplyDeleteI got the second book in the series in a charity shop in the UK when I went over for a visit. I knew I wanted to read them in order and so I ordered the first book from Book Depository. I got the third book from Book Depository as soon as it came out too. I hadn't thought to look Jojo Moyes up on NetGalley. Will do now though. I'm definitely a fan.
DeleteI will have to make some room for the books in my TBR list. Glad you enjoyed them so much.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. I think you'd like this series.
DeleteI read the first two books and saw the movie. The first one crushed me. I didn’t know anything about the book so I didn’t know it would end the way it did.
ReplyDeleteI understand the controversy with this story. The defense is that this is only one person’s story. It’s tough. I’m more torn now because I recently dated a paraplegic. I think somehow once the book or movie came up in conversation (texting) and I think he thought negatively about it. We didn’t get into a deep conversation about it though. I’m not sure the right answer.
I did love Louisa too though! She’s the sweetest, most adorable character. Emilia Clarke was good casting because I think the same about her. Love her!
I think a lot of the controversy is from people who are generalizing it. Like you said, this is one person's story. It's not meant to reflect a whole group of people. In fact, one of the things that makes this story so emotional is the fact that it is such a personal tale. It digs deep into the life of Will and those around him.
DeleteEven knowing the ending of the first book it still floored me.
Louisa is a great character. I agree, Emilia Clarke did a good job of interpreting her in film.
I have not read this series yet!
ReplyDeleteIt's a roller-coaster of emotions but worth it.
DeleteI do own a copy of Me Before You, but I have not read it as yet.
ReplyDeleteMove it up on your TBR ;) It's an awesome read.
DeleteVery nice! I'm glad you love this series, I know lots of people love it.

DeleteThis has been on my shelf for so long and now I just want to pick it up, push everything else aside and start reading.
ReplyDeleteDo it! It's emotional but so good. Can't wait to hear what you think of it.
DeleteI've never read this series but you're sellin it! Great post!!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this whole series.
DeleteHopped across from your quiz page to say I loved the first book too. Loved it like crazy. The second one sort of let me down and so I let the third one go. Maybe I'mm pick it up now. Going back to the quiz.
ReplyDeleteHope you have fun with the trivia quiz 😊
DeleteI loved the whole Me Before You series. The second and third aren't as raw as the first book but each have elements that make them great emotional reads.
