My thoughts about Ransom Road by Anya Mora
The book synopsis for Ransom Road by Anya Mora
My husband was everything I wanted in a partner.
Then his business took off and we had Rosie — the most colic-y baby our pediatrician had ever met.
Shadows from my past crept closer. So I locked us away, safe inside the gates of our island home. Or so I thought.
I knew it was a bad idea to let anyone in, but I needed help. And Nanny Bexley was a dream come true: an excellent resume and tons of energy.
But just one week after she came into our lives, the dream turned into a nightmare. And there was no one I could trust.
If I wanted to see my daughter again, I would need to step outside and find her myself.
Welcome to Liar’s Island… a stand-alone series of interconnected, novella length domestic thrillers set in the picture-perfect community of Liars Island. Here, nothing is quite as it seems.
On this island, families and friendships are more than meets the eye … secrets, deceptions, and jealousies threaten to ruin everything these influential people have built. But it isn’t only the rich that live here … and power comes in all shapes and sizes. Everyone here is a liar … just how far would you go to get what you want?
Discussing Ransom Road by Anya Mora
Quotes from Ransom Road by Anya Mora
I don’t particularly like this woman, but I do like the idea of her seeing something in me that’s special. That no one else has discovered.
Bexley sings a soft song to my daughter. It’s not intended for me, but somehow it lulls me to sleep.
Money can’t solve every problem — but it can solve a lot of them. And this one, it can be solved with a wire transfer.
My voice is tight, my fingers cold. I run up and down the sidewalk, terror in my heart, my worst nightmare in my mind’s eye.
We all have choices. But I’ve had to live my whole life with theirs.
I push the stroller from the coffee shop, tears running down my cheeks now, and I duck into an alley, alone. This man who kidnapped my daughter knows about my past. Knows me.
I need half a million dollars by tomorrow morning and right now, I have a few thousand.

DeleteI love a good novella to help keep my yearly reading count up!
ReplyDeleteExactly. Perfect for those of us doing reading challenges đŸ˜‰ At just 102 pages this one was a nice quick read.
DeleteThis looks more than divine - I love this type of tale.
ReplyDeleteI think you'd like this one DJ. This is the first book in a long series (over 20 books!) but each book seems to be written by a different author. After this one I'm definitely interested in reading at least some of the other titles in the series, and want to read more Anya Mora for sure.
DeleteRansom Road from the title alone sounds intense. I’m glad it was a 5 star read for you.
ReplyDeleteI was starting to think I wouldn't find any 5 star books this year and then along came this one. I couldn't put it down.
DeleteFantastic review of Ransom Road! Definitely outside my normal genre but glad it made the 5-star mark for you :)
