Do you ever have one of those months when it feels like your busy all the time but at the same time you feel like you did nothing? That was October for me.

Blogging

I'm not going to sugar coat it, October was not a good blogging month. My traffic took a dive, reaching only 15,890 views for the month. Whilst this is still not bad it's a long way from my average of around 60K a month that I've been getting used to this year.

So what went wrong?

Well, the main difference was that I didn't put as much time and energy into my blog in October as I usually do.

Why?

My computer is dying. All month I've battled with error messages of the battery dying, problems with it working in slow motion, and finally it's started giving me an error message when I turn it on to say the hard disk: imminent failure. It's got to the point that I'm never sure if it'll even turn on.

Needless to say, I need a new computer. I'm crossing everything I have that I make it with this one until Black Friday so I came get a good offer on a new one.

Anyway, all these issues with my current computer have meant that my productivity has taken a huge hit. Jobs that usually take me 10 to 15 minutes to do took me hours.

I'm not going to lie to you. It made me want to give up a little. I lost my will to do pretty much anything. It was so frustrating.

It has been an eye opener though. It's made me realise a lot of things about my blog and what I need to do to get the results I want. All those little things I was doing really do add up and make a huge difference at the end of the month.

As the end of 2023 is now fast approaching the insight from this month will actually be very useful as I plan for 2024 so, whilst it was a bit of a flop, I'm going to use it to grow even more in the future.

Consistency is key both for blog posts and marketing.

Total new blog posts in October: 17

Reading Challenges

October was not a good month for my reading challenges either. In fact, I didn't make any progress with either my Clock Reading Challenge or my Net Galley TBR Reading Challenge.

That said, I did read a total of 4 books in October and make some progress on another one.

There's still time for you to join in with the Clock Reading Challenge 2023 and create your own clock for 2023. If you need some help finding books for the challenge check out Books with Numbers 1-12 in the Title: Clock Reading Challenge.

Other books read:

Enola Holmes 3 The Case of the Bizarre Bouquets by Nancy Springer - My Review - Amazon - Goodreads

Enola Holmes 4 The Case of the Peculiar Pink Fan by Nancy Springer - My Review - Amazon - Goodreads

Enola Holmes 5 The Case of the Cryptic Crinoline by Nancy Springer - My Review - Amazon - Goodreads

Enola Holmes 6 The Case of the Disappearing Duchess by Nancy Springer - My Review - Amazon - Goodreads

Travel

Due to the change in weather we didn't really go out and about as much in October. Whilst the temperature is still quite high, it's become quite rainy, windy, and just generally grey.

This has meant that we've been spending our free days going to shopping centres and doing Christmas shopping instead of going on adventures or visiting sites.

Fitness

How can I put this? I failed big time!

I did nothing to improve my fitness this month. Less walking than I had been doing too because the change in weather meant I didn't really want to go out. I ate less healthy food too.

I know I need to do better. I can feel the effect it had on my body and it's not good. I'm tired and lacking energy in general. I'm aware of the effect on my mental health and general motivation too.

November needs to be a better month.
