The August Challenges
During the second half of the year, and our challenge, we'll be concentrating on individual social media platforms each month so we can get more specific with each one.
Our focus for August is on LinkedIn.
Check out my book How to be Twittertastic
1) LinkedIn Page Set Up
Task 1: Make sure you have your avatar and a branded banner at the top of your profile. These should both match your branding used on your blog and other social media sites for consistency.
Task 2: Make sure your contact info is up to date.
Task 3: Update your about section. Things you might want to include:
- General information about when you started, why, mission statement, etc...
- Information about any blogging awards you've won
- Places you've been featured recently (guest posts, interviews, etc...)
- Conferences, events, book fairs, etc... that you've taken part in
- Relevant work experience
Task 4: Set up featured posts. This is where you can showcase some of your best blog posts. These are the ones you feel best show the sort of content you produce.
2) Skills and Endorsements
Endorsements are a list of skills you master that people have endorsed you for. People can suggest a skill and give you an endorsement for that skill, or you can add a skill yourself and people can endorse you for it. It shows your expertise areas with the added value that other people have agreed as well.
Task 5: Add skills to your list.
3) Testimonials
Testimonials are basically where people tell everyone how great you are.
Task 6: Ask people you've worked with if they would mind writing a testimonial for you/your blog.
